What do they do? And if anybody could tell me a little bit about demolition, I would like to know about that too. My husband wants to join the Navy, and we are wanting to learn a little bit about certain jobs. Thanks

A Navy Seabee is a group of people whom usually wear camy uniforms but not always who's job it is to deal with construction for the most part. Not to square them off with the Army corps of Engineers, but they do have general and specialized technicians in various fields that build and deal with repair work. They tend to accompany sea going vessels as a detached unit on board ships or to support operations where needed. Port Hyeme, CA (spelling ? ) is a base I was almost sent to. Like any job in the Navy, it is a billet (position) that is filled by anyone willing to take the job.

The Seabees are the Construction Battalions of the United States Navy. The Seabees have a history of building bases, bulldozing and paving thousands of miles of roadway and airstrips, and accomplishing myriad other construction projects in a wide variety of military theatres dating back to World War II.

The name "seabee" is a backronym of the pronunciation of CB, the abbreviation for Construction Battalions. Incidentally, bees are known of their hive construction skills.
The official motto of the Seabees is "Construimus, Batuimus" – translated into English as "We Build, We Fight."

The Seabees have several unofficial mottos as well. Their best known unofficial motto is the simple phrase "Can Do!", featured on much of their promotional material.

Other unofficial mottos include:

"With compassion for others, we build, we fight, for peace with freedom."
"With willing hearts and skillful hands, the difficult we do at once, the impossible takes a bit longer, miracles by appointment only.newcomers begin “A” School (preliminary training) fresh out of boot camp, or they come from the fleet after their service term is met, spending about 75 percent of the twelve weeks immersed in hands-on training. The remaining 25 percent is spent in classroom instruction. From “A” School, new Seabees most often report to a battalion command for their first tour of duty. For two weeks, the new Seabees go through Seabee Replacement Training or SERT. SERT is a basic combat skills course where the students will spend one week in a classroom environment learning map reading and land navigation, how to lay out defensive plans, conduct patrols and many other combat related skills. The second week is spent at a rifle range where students will learn basic rifle marksmanship and then qualify with the M16 service rifle. At the end of those two weeks, new Seabees are ready to perform with their new battalion. About one third of new Seabees are assigned to Public Works Departments at Naval installations both stateside and overseas. While stationed at a Public Works Department, a Seabee will have the opportunity to get specialized training and extensive experience in one or more facets of their rating.
The birthday of the U. S. Navy Seabees is March 5, 1942.

Seabees are the construction workers in the Navy.

If you need a bridge they build it. A trench they dig it.

They are usually the ones doing the work alongside Marines that you never see on TV.

My late father grew to become right into a Seabee. no longer basically grew to become into he a undesirable-***, and have confidence me I observed him in some fights back in the day, there wasn't something approximately shape that he did no longer understand the thank you to do. He grew to become into banging up homes whilst he grew to become into an outdated guy, by using himself, and each little thing handed code on the 1st inspection. there's no longer something incorrect with the Seabees. Gene, the Seabee motto is "We build, we combat." They see their share of attempt against.
