I do believe in God and all, but I have a question for christians about gay people. By the way, GO GAYS! YOU GUYS ROCK! Never be afraid to show you you really are! And dont listen to the people that say otherwise!
But I posted a question, and a lot of people said "You will go to hell for being gay" or "Being gay is a sin" or "Being gay is WRONG and you are all mistakes"....
Well.....ummmm.....God doesn't make mistakes....
So all of you bible beaters...are you saying god made a mistake? Are you suggest that YOU are right and god is wrong???
You are all entitled to a opinion, but dont drag god into it...
The bible said "Whoever shall believe in him, will not perish but have everlasting life"
It didn't say "Whoever is straight that believes in him, will not parish..."
I'm not trying to preach, I am just trying to prove that dragging god into sexuality is wrong and stupid. I believe in God, but you look like an idiot when you use God as an answer for everything...

And for everyone that says "it says being gay is a sin".

Well, if you think thats what the bible meant by that, then....John 3:16, you'll still go to heaven even though your a sinner, so you cant tell people they are going to hell...

Unless your a jew...then John 3:16 has no meaning to you

To anyone that says Being gay is a choice only...Here is what I replyed to someone that said that:

Not all people choose to be that way. it happens.
Some people are just born that way.

I was born and raised in a Baptist home.
And I just didn't feel like I belonged there.
Not because i CHOSE to be different, I FELT like I wasn't being true to myself being there.
So I was told to leave. I became a methodist. I like the open minds of being methodist.

I didn't CHOOSE to feel out of place. It was just something I felt.
Are you saying people have to choose to feel a certain way?

Have you ever been in love?
Did you say "Hmmm........I think I will fall in love today"

NO! It just happens!

but whatever, no matter what I say...I am going to be wrong in your eyes. And your wrong in mine.

I agree completely.

Are you going to pounce on obese people next? Are you going to assume that if they aer obese that they eat too much? And is eating too much going to turn into a sin as well? Just keep adding on the meanings that are obviously not meant.

I wonder that if we were taught that same sex is the way to go when we grew up, would opposite sex be a sin?

Why are people obsessive over the fact that people are gay? They don't complain much about forced child prostitution, forced child labor, crimes that are MUCH more important that the fact that people like the same sex. What is wrong with being gay besides the opinion that is it against beliefs? Have they really commited such a terrible sin? Have they REALLY?

You treat them as they've raped, murdered, kidnapped, robbed, and all sorts of those fun stuff.

HEY!
STOP NEGATING PEOPLE TO A THUMBS DOWN SIGN. IT'S OBVIOUS THAT YOU DON'T BOTHERING READING WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY. THUMBS DOWN IS TO MARK USELESS COMMENTS AND SUCH. DO NOT TELL ME THAT EVERYTHING IS A USELESS COMMENT.

Did God create cannibalism too? Did he really mean for humans to eat other humans?

Sounds to me that everything is sinned.

If God controls the universe, then why did he make other religions? Why didn't he create them to believe in Him?
If you are going to say that Satan created them, then more than half of the world is going to go to Hell. Buddhism, etc. etc.

Did God create war too? Why? Did God create AIDS? Why?
Did God create hate? Why?
So if God says that gays are sinners, why does he give them good jobs? Some of them are in the fashion industry, makeup and etc. What's with that?

Define SIN.
If it's what I think it is, then brushing our hair is a sin. We believe that being presentable is polite, right? Why are you obsessed with what people think? It's bad for our confidence if we don't, which becomes bad for our souls isn't it?
Adam and Even didn't obssess with their hair did they? How did we come to commit such a crime? Aren't they our role models?

If a male gets a sex change and becomes are woman and falls in love with a man, is that a sin too? Does it really matter what gender we are?

Some animals mate with same genders! Are they sinners too?

Would you rather become asexual? Would you be proud?

Not all homosexuals are Christians either. Do you expect everyone to follow Christian rules just because you see that as a sin?

DO YOU REALLY EXPECT FOR EVERY PERSON THAT'S GAY TO COME INTO CHURCH AND BEG FOR FORGIVENESS?
It'll probably something like this: "I'm sorry for being gay."

AND!!!!!
Aren't scientists finding out that being homosexual is a gene cause?
Are you going to tell me that beliefs are facts and science isn't?

AND IF BEING HOMOSEXUAL IS A SIN, AND HOMOSEXUALITY PROVES TO BE A GENE, then God must've created THAT GENE implying that God wanted those specific HUMANS to be sinners?

Satan? I thought God created all beings.

However, I agree with Da-dum. Not all Christians think negatively.

First I don't care for George Bush's policies. I do however oppose gay marriage because society has to set a standard of some sort. If my opinion differs from yours for example when it comes to taxes or other moral issues does that mean I am required to always give in to your opinion? You mention that the Bible doesn't mention gay marriage. It does say that homosexual acts are an abomination to God. Would it not follow that if the acts are an abomination to God that sanctioning them by allowing gay marriage would be daft ? I would agree that perhaps we spend too much time talking about gay marriage to the exclusion of equally important issues. I agree that helping the poor is extremely important. The Bible is a book of balance. It is so obvious to me that the function of sex is primarily to for procreation and to express love between a husband and wife.Homosexual "love" tends to focus mostly on pleasure and is for the most part unhygienic. If you were looking at homosexual love from an engineering standpoint it would be obvious that the human anatomy was not designed for most homosexual acts. Is this a justifiable pretext for bashing homosexuals and hateing them? No. Does this mean I am required to support this lifestyle with my taxes ? No. Are you and I allowed to express our opinion in a civilized, rational manner? I hope so. I am not God. I can only express my opinion about what I believe are His beliefs. I am merely expressing an opinion just as you are expressing an opinion. I know it is tempting to dismiss other peoples's opinions as nonsense but we all have free will to believe as we see fit. In the end God will sort it all out. It is more important to show love than it is to always be right.

When you say God does not make mistakes, that is absolutely true. However, the reason for you leaning on that is faulty. You say that to imply that people are born "gay and, if we are saying that they are wrong, then we are saying that God made a mistake. Henceforth, He would not be perfect.

However, since God did not create someone "gay". then the idea that they are born that way, and that you can use that premise to "trip us up" is faulty.

God made it very clear in His Holy Bible, in both the Old & New Testaments, that the sin of Sodom is an abomination. Moreover, to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior & then try to justify a lifestyle that is antithetical to Christian living is a psychosis. It is being, what we Christians call, dual minded.

Now, as to Sodomites going to Hell: The thing that will send them to Hell is not their choice of a perverted lifestyle, just as abortion, itself, will not send an abortionist to Hell. It is whether or not they confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Once they do that, He will make it clear to them what the proper lifestyle of a Christian is which will, in turn cause them to move away from their lifestyle in the sin of Sodom. And, He could very well use what is said here to do it for someone.

In the meantime, we must continue to speak the truth, in love. If we don't we share the responsibility for a lost person going to Hell, because we didn't have the courage to tell them the truth.

I'm Bi and a regular answerer on this site. I am also a Christian. I will tell you what I typically say to questions like this one.

Gay is a sin. It's another sin of many. All people sin and therefore need Christ. There is no other kind of person than that. I believe that because I think that the Bible is the world of God, and that people tend to miss the point of it all. Jesus was the covering atonement that was acceptable to God, otherwise called a 'propitiation'.

Jesus said that if you believe in Him, you are not condemned. Jesus is the propitiation and so there are two kinds of people here on Earth, those who are covered by that propitiation, and those who are not. The one's who believe in him are covered, those who do not are not. So we cannot get to God unless we are covered, whether we are Gay or not.

That's the point of all of this. Anyone who thinks that Gays can't accept the propitiation are not preaching the Gospel that Jesus told us to preach. They are therefore preaching a message that Jesus didn't tell them to preach. Where did they get the anti Gay message?

It wasn't from God!

Well since we are all sinners here I do not judge anyone. I have always said hate the sin not the sinner. goes for murders, gay, thieves, etc.
Now God does not make mistakes you are right, but if you are implying that God makes people gay or that people are born gay you are incorrect. Being gay or straight is a choice much as choosing to follow Christ or not. I am not saying that you cannot be gay and christian, but if you have truly accepted Christ then you are no longer a slave to sin and your focus should be becoming more Christ-like. No one Gay or otherwise is a mistake in God's eye. He loved us all so much he not only gave His Son Jesus, but he gave us free will to choose.
Matthew 7:13-14 says Enter through the narrow gate. For the wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow is the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.
1 Corinthians 6:9 says it all right there. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor the drunkards nor the slanderers nor the swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Not my words or my rules, but from God himself.
As for choices. I chose to become a Christian, I chose who I date, I chose my job. You have all the same choices.
Choose Jesus and Grace not sin. It is a struggle just the same for heterosexuals because no one sin is greater than another. Grace coveres it all.

I haven't beaten any Bibles lately, but I'm going to give this a try anyway.

Your argument might be ok if it were not for the fact that in both the old and new testament, scripture talks quite a bit about homosexuality, and it doesn't say good things about it...

No sinner can get to heaven without the grace and gift of salvation given to us by Jesus Christ. So, liars, thieves, adulterers, murderers, etc., all have to have this grace, not just homosexuals...and by homosexuals I mean people who are actively involved in homosexual sex, not those living in celibacy. Just like a heterosexual engaging in illicit sex is sinning, according to scripture.

So of course a gay person or any other sinner could go to heaven if he/she was a believer in Jesus Christ, as your reference above states. Heaven is full of former sinners!

But it isn't it also conceivable that a gay person who has this belief might also be trying to live a holy life and not engaging in sexual activity?

You're also wrong about "dragging God into sexuality is wrong--" God and sexuality are linked because God created sexuality, but God gave us LOTS of boundaries along with it...we just choose to ignore God's boundaries because they aren't convenient.

Since you quoted the Bible, I wish to ask you, how do you decide which parts of the Bible to believe and quote? Only the parts you like? If so, then you are probably using scripture out of context or just ignoring the context.

I don't believe God makes mistakes, no. But people do. I don't believe gays make the choice to be gay and I can't explain why they are gay, but they do make the choice to use sex in a way that God did not intend, if you are going to quote scripture and be honest about what scripture says. But, too, gays are not the only ones doing that...

That doesn't mean, though, that God's love and grace isn't for gays, because it is for everyone.

Gays are just a convenient target. "Hate the sin, love the sinner" is just an excuse to say really hateful thing without feeling like you're being hateful. The point is if they love each other why would it be a sin? That's terribly cruel to expect someone to go their entire life without love just because you don't like their lifestyle. They don't owe that to anyone and Christians are being terribly hypocrital by preaching about free will all the time and then turning around and inhibiting free will by trying to force people to conform to their religious beliefs, trying to get their bible morals written into law. Gay marriage is a political issue not a religious one, "the bible says its wrong" is not a valid reason to outlaw it.

You need to read further my friend. Whe you beleive on him you want to obey his commandments. If you cannot do that you don't beleive in him fully nor do you trust him. God is the answer to everything. The word of God says homosexuality is a sin-marriage is between a man and a woman. When we sin God does not hear our prayers nor invite us to his table. We hve to aske forgiveness of that sin and stop doing it. Those who are gay will end up in hell unless they repent and stop what they are doing. We have to live a Godly life. Gays are telling God he made a mistake-he doesn't make mistakes. He made man and woman for each other period. You can talk all you want and make all the excuses you want to justify the way you want to live-but on judgement day you will find out you wrote the path to hell with those very intentions. Word says love your life you will lose it. Plain and simple.

I am Catholic and I will tell you this, we are all human beings, with faults and there is nothing wrong about that, perfection is an illusion for the hypocrites!!!I really don't have nothing against gays and their believes, who are we to judge them??? I have never heard or read God's words that will extend animosity. So all I can say I really don't care, if they like being gays let they have it, their lives, their hearts!!!

What about pedophiles? God made pedophiles, too. Are you going to tell pedophiles that it's ok to be a pedophile, because God made them that way, and God doesn't make mistakes? Of course not. God said homosexuality is an abomination. Homosexuality goes against the natural order God made. God made man and woman, and told them to be fruitful and multiply.

You must be under the impression that homosexuality is not a choice someone makes. Prove it.

Isn't it ridiculous how some people think God should conform to what they want, and not the other way around? Selfish!

2007-09-13 16:13:10 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 3 3

Saying that because there are gay people God created them and thus they will not go to Hell is not doctrinally sound. Homosexuality is a sin. Anyone who engages in sin and does not repent will not go to Heaven. If you believe in Christ and are saved you will not want to sin. Homosexuals are engaging in sin. If they continue willfully sinning then they will not be forgiven and will go to Hell. This is not my opinion. It is the Bibles.

As to using God as an answer for everything. When He gives us the answer for something I will use it. I do not condemn anyone on my own. However the Bible makes it clear homosexuality is a sin. It also makes it clear that they will not go to Heaven.

1Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers, nor homosexuals,
1Co 6:10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Romans 1:26 For this cause, God gave them up to dishonorable affections. For even their women changed the natural use into that which is against nature.
Rom 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust toward one another; males with males working out shamefulness, and receiving in themselves the recompense which was fitting for their error.
