Here is a link to Jews for Jesus. They can answer your questions.

Yes, you can be Jewish and a Christian. These Christians choose to retain their Jewish heritage.

The rest of us are Gentile Christians.

P.S.
Tseruyah, that is interesting. I had never heard of there being a distinction between "Messianic Jews" and "Messianic Christians." Thanks for the education.
P.P.S.
I asked another person about this distinction between "Messianic Jews" & "Messianic Christians," and this is what he said:

"Every Christian is Messianic; they believe in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior; and Messianic Jews are simply Jewish people by blood who attain to Jewish tradition (somewhat), but believe Jesus Christ to be the Messiah. Messianic Jews are just an other way of saying competed Jews; we are just another branch in God's great vine."

So from this I gather that Jews who are saved do refer to themselves as "Messianic Jews," and it may perhaps just be the unsaved Jews who object to any Christians being identified as Jews, or any Jews being identified as Christians (whichever way you want to look at it), and so relabel them "Messianic Christians."

Do you mean messianic christians? They follow the scriptural holidays of the Torah, plus the christian holidays of Easter and christmas.

Most calendars published in the Western world mark the Jewish holidays of Rosh HaShanah, Yom Kippur and Pesach (Passover). There are many other holidays as well.

Messianic Jews are Jews who believe the maschiach or messiah has yet to be sent but WILL be sent to Israel.

Messianic christians believe Jesus was/is the maschiach and depend upon him for salvation from damnation for sin.

Jews believe in teshuvah (reconciliation through repentence as prescribed in Torah), not in Jesus being sent to die to pay for sins.

Note: All devout Jews believe in the prophesied maschiach. That's why all Jews are, in that sense, "messianic". NONE of them believe Jesus is that maschiach, much less divine.

I agree 100% with sweetheeb. Our G-D is INDIVISIBLE and anyone who seeks to compromise the identity of our G-D by inserting polytheistic elements into His worship (Jesus worship) has divorced himself from Judaism.

TO RELLA:
I don't wish to offend you so please don't take this personally, but Jews find the terminology of "saved" or "unsaved" and "completed" as offensive when attempting to have an interfaith conversation. It's disrespectful of our beliefs. Thanks for understanding.

Messianic Jews are not Jews.
They are a fraud and an abomination.
They are sick hangers on.
They are liars.
But they are NOT Jews.
Judaism has very explicit law detailing exactly who is and is not a Jew.
We can do that, Judaism is us, and it is ours.
We have gaurded it and kept it for 5,000 years.
Judaism also very explicit rejects these "messy-antic" fakes.
We are not an open club.
In Judaism, You are, or you aren't.
If you believe in ANY G-d but the ONE, SINGULAR, INDIVISIBLE G-d of Israel, you AREN'T.
If you do not, you are welcome to contact and orthodox rabbi regarding conversion.

I have tolerance for most religious practices, but these people lying about their identities and trying to latch onto my people disgust me and disgust every other Jew I know.

They are the WRONG people to ask a question of- People who claim they are Jews but have no knowledge of true Judaism and disregard for what we are.

How would you feel if someone set up a 'satanic' church and called itself 'completed xtianity'??

These people are disgusting.

You do know that Judaism does **not** consider "Messianic Jews" to be Jewish, right? And that as Jews, we're the *only* ones who get to define who is Jewish and who isn't, right?

Again, people, there is a much better name for "messianic Jews".... they are called Christians. You CAN NOT be Jewish and believe that Jesus is the messiah- the two DO NOT mix- period
