They are both cables. I thought cables have nothing to do with quality. The only differences are the speeds. Why cant i use USB 2.0 with my camcorder? Why does firewire provide the better video quality for camcorder?

PS my camcorder does not have USB streaming.

My Sony HDD camcorder only uses USB 2.0. I transfered a 2 hour home movie to my PC in 15 minutes. Firewire would have taken 2 hours. With Firewire, if you have a 1 hour home movie, it takes 1 hour to transfer to PC. If you have a 2 hour home movie, it takes 2 hours to tranfer with Firewire.
I was initially pissed of that the camcorder did not use Firewire because I thought that was the best and the fastest. USB 2.0 amazed me!!!!

USB is an IP oriented ;port, it uses bursts of data transfers in packets. Firewire is formatted for a continuous stream of serial data.
