Small frequent meals. I would calculate your daily caloric need and go by that. I dont know how much you weigh and so forth. You can also do a lot of upper body exercises to stay toned and burn calories.

Im a big fan of the body for life diet. eat 5 or 6 small meals a day to control blood sugars and provide your body continuous nourishment instead of the usual american diet of 2 large high fat meals.

Good luck!

Follow a low-calorie diet, and watch your snacks. Eat lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, and stay away from junk foods and fried foods. You may gain a few pounds from the inactivity, but once you're back on your feet, and resuming your activities, they will come right off again. Good luck!
