I have been living next door to a drug dealer for a few years now. I am amazed at the ease with which they carry on their business. Several neighbors have gone to the police but nothing is done. From the day they moved in, it was quite obvious what was going on. I own my home and I am planning on selling in the spring. Along with the drug business, there are several pit bulls in the yard that are not cared for properly and constantly cry and bark. When animal control comes they leave a note on the door and nothing else is done. Just wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and how they coped with it?

You need to document every time there is illegal activity. If a car pulls up and is only there for 5 minutes say to pick up drugs write down the tags number and how long they were there. Take pics if you can without being seen. Do this for a week or 2 and instead of calling the local police try the state ones or a crime stoppers hot line. Keep calling until they do something.

Yes, I have. To address this problem it will take boldness and courage. Contact neighborhood watch or association and bring it to their attention. Hound law enforcement so bad that they either deal with the problem or have to deal with you. Do the same also with legislative leaders in the neighborhood. Insure while you are doing these things that you document everything phone call, letter, email, correspondence sent. If this does not work, here is the ultimate stand. Open a public form where you film and take pictures to be placed on the web exposing there dealings and transactions. Also, let a rumor out that states, that liscense are being taken down for anyone coming and purchasing drugs. Finally, aftrer all this has been done and if, I mean if it doesn't work you live where there is to much apathy and you are to good of a person to go down with the ship. Sometimes the ship can't be saved but and individual can.

It might be a good idea to just hang loose until you move. Don't rock the boat. These people might be sort of unstable and prone to taking vengeance. Maybe not. But why take the chance? If you are moving away, maybe you could hold off until you are away from there and then if you want to, just call the police, get them to raid the place, it shouldn't be hard. Direct your information to somewhere it will do the most good, like the narcotics division chief and the DEA and the district attorney's office. But until you are out of there, I'd think seriously about just not rocking the boat.
