Yes, your politicians and the corporations are making major cash on this. Yes, the war is for oil. (Which war hasn't been for resources or US interest?) But more deeply, we messed Iraq up, promising Iraqis liberation and a better way of life. (Again) Which of you - especially those of you who've been there - think abandoning them to a bloodbath is what right looks like? If our dead friends could speak, would they appreciate the political blather that uses their names as an excuse to further their careers, or would they want their deaths to back up the promise we made?

I know we, the armchair army should butt out of this question. But then this is www so here's my two cents....

You liberated Iraqis from a tyrant; and now they have to face an uncertain future in their own country with death ever constant at their doorsteps. (Majority of Iraqis knew how to live under Saddam, so no major issue there). Now that they do have an option (courtesy of US) as to how to live their lives, it would be irresponsible of America to just drawdown in numbers without significant protection for Iraqis.

You, as a soldier can only do so much for obvious reasons; ultimately it is up to The Top to decide your fate. But what you American soldiers have done, are doing are admirable (in my book anyway); and I don't need any a Bush or a Pelosi to tell me otherwise.

Look after your brothers and sisters in Iraq. And yourself.

i'm a former Airman who agrees, even even with the shown fact that, did we destroy it or did we fail to right fix it yet? looks ending oppression and changing it with a republic isn't breaking Iraq. that's extra like a physician reducing a cancerous tumour from a physique on an analogous time as different "medical doctors" (Islamrads/tribes/and so on) are attaching new ones to the affected person. Iraq could be lots closer to restoration and probable useful now if it weren't for the international interference (interior the form of the terrorists that flooded into Iraq).

I will NOT blame the soldiers for "breaking" Iraq. From what I understand, you and your fellow soldiers and Marines were sent in there with inadequate planning, inadequate gear, and inadequate protection. Forgive me, sir (or ma'am), but I blame the Commander in Chief and those who planned this cockamamie war and not the guys and gals in Iraq.

And I don't think asking more soldiers and Marines to get killed honors the dead.

Yes, some soldiers have done some horrible things in this war, but I blame them and the men who planned this war (who did everything to avoid serving, I might remind you) for putting them into a horrible untenable position. I don't blame every soldier for the acts of a few.

I'm not in the military, but I saw this question, and I had to absolve you of blame.

we most definitely need to finish the fight. You should of heard the democratic party response to Bush's speech on the war tonight. it was a senator from rhode island and he said we should change the course in the war so the soldiers that gave their lives would have a reason worth dying for (by that he means take the troops out). it made me sick to my stomach. he pretty much said that the troops died for no cause. I am tired of all these democrats who think they know everything and think they can solve the middle east's problems without a war. there is no negotiating with the terrorists, there will be no peace until all terrorist groups are destroyed. I thank you for serving in the military and God Bless You.

Well, I hope you are writing from Baghdad. How do you guys expect to win this war when all you guys do is go over there then sit around and wait to come back to the states. Any other war, the troops went off to war, they stayed till they won, and they came home. Next time you go, try to achieve something positive, you guys really don't seem to be trying very hard. Don't just sit there and say "I feel like we should fix Iraq" go get it done, we can't afford 500 billion dollars for you guys to do nothing!!!

It was broken WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY before the US stepped in... and it will forever be broken. They are the only ones that can fix themselves. IF the US went into Iraq under different circumstances... maybe we'd be accepted differently. Like...if we went there for the sole purpose of helping them help themselves and not for weapons of mass distruction-stop terrorism etc....

It was broke WAY before the United States stuck their finger in it.

Kinda like saying I ruined my mother-in-law's cooking by tasting the concoction from a wooden spoon. (ICK, I'll never do that again. The woman can't cook, and blames the AIR for f*cking up her recipies!)
