I do not have anything against doctors, most are doing the best they can with the education they are given. The problem seems to come from the fact that the doctors are mostly educated in pharmaceutical areas that are controlled by those who's legal obligation is to make larger and larger profits for their stockholders. Hence the doctors are taught to prescribe more and more drugs thus making more profits for the drug companies.

A doctor goes to college for a minimum of 8 years, usually 12. Who knows what education a drug dealer has? It's pot luck. A doctor treats diseases. A drug dealer treats nothing. A doctor had to take a grueling comprehensive examination to earn a license to prescribe drugs. A drug dealer might have a driver's license, if you're lucky, and it might be fake. A doctor prescribes drugs that are manufactured under strict laboratory conditions. A drug dealer sells drugs that are made here and there and everywhere by anybody who wants a piece of the action and are often cut with other substances like baking soda (if you're lucky) or comet cleanser or rat poison. A doctor accepts money from patients, health insurance companies, legitimate social service organizations, or family or friends in return for his/her services. A drug dealer accepts money, sex, stolen goods, other drugs, weapons, cars, etc., etc., etc. in exchange for his/her services. Do I think a drug dealer is any different than a doctor? Darn tootin' I do!

Since when did a drug dealer ever help anyone but themselves? Doctors objectives are to help people. Drug Dealers care only to make a buck. If the stuff is good or bad they could care less.
By the way using any type of drug administered for any extended period of time for a non-existant problem leads to
a host of physical maladies, brain damage, death.

Well, considering that the medication I receive from my doctor is keeping me alive (and I'm 21 years old by the way), I'm inclined to say there's a difference. But who knows, maybe I'm just biased because a doctor saved my life three years ago and a drug dealer has never done that for me.

Look i think a doctor is better than a drug dealer because a drug dealer is stupid, and dumb.Doctors are people that help people live.

From what your asking you are only wanting to compare the issue of medications.I believe a Doctor pretty much knows about meds and what they are used for,as a drug dealer only knows what he has been told,by another drug dealer, and he wiil sale you anything and tell you its what you want and most likly have no idea what it is and could really care less.

Actually, that's a very sore subject with me. I often find patients think in terms of coming to see me for drugs, and they're often disappointed when I disabuse them of the idea. Whether they know it or not, what they're paying for when they see me is not a pass to buy drugs (prescription) but my expert opinion of what they should do. That may include particular drugs, and it might not. As a matter of fact, one of the major reasons many drugs require a prescription is to put on the brakes; it's the doctor's job to say "No" when they're inappropriate. As time goes on, I find more and more that patients think of themselves as clients who should be able to get that prescription for an antibiotic for a cold, rather than patients who come to discover that antibiotics aren't indicated (just as an example).

This is a cynical question of the highest degree.

Every profession has its dregs, and the medical profession is no different. But the vast majority of us spent years of training to help people. If you haven't been helped, find another doctor. But be careful; your atttude invites rejection.
