is there atleast some truth in the statement that the meds that the pharma co's make are actually toxins that are really what kills people (over time) considering that to the body it is a foriegn substance? Take for example radiation. They tell you its bad for you and ok so it might be different kind of radiation BUT still to the body it is foriegn or else people's hair would not fall out bc of high doses or even low doses of radiation. They say its supposed to keep people around longer but it also changes the properties of the cells as well. Also what is your opinion of this page? This is one of the reasons why I am so skeptical of the big pharma. Sure medicine has come a long way and sure we dont have all of the answers but for heavan sakes practice with integrity!(VIOXX - where they knew 5 yrs before the drug went on the market that it would kill people) Im sure that is a minority of the industry Heres the website http://www.studentprintz.com/home/index.cfm?event=displayArticlePrint

Yes there is some truth to that statement.

Chemotherapy drugs and radiation are known carcinogens, in that they increase your chance of future cancers.

BUT

The alternative is to leave the cancer you are currently facing untreated.

It is a bit like someone telling you to step out of the way of a car that was sure to kill you if you didn't move, knowing that by moving, you run the risk of you getting hit by a different car, although there is no certainty of this.

I think you would choose to step out of the way of the car, just as many of us choose to undergo chemotherapy and radiation to treat our cancer, and run the risk of another cancer developing in the future.

Remember that Doctors and medical professionals have an ethical obligation to offer treatments that can extend your life.

Hundreds of clinical trials have shown that radiation can extend the life expectancy of people with certain types of cancers. Without it most would die sooner.

As for Vioxx only a small number of people using it had serious side effects. The number of patients used in the first few trials of Vioxx were not enough to identify all the possible side effects. It was only when further tests were done (with more patients) that this was discovered.

Often in medical science a risk vs. benefit analysis must be made.

I'm sure there is more than some truth to the fact that the pharmacy. co. are killing us. There are allot of toxins in most of the meds. we take. I think they do more harm than good, or at least some of them do. I prefer taking vitamins they cost less and do a better job. Are bodies weren't make to take all the cabbage we put in it. As for radiation you don't really lose you hair, however it is nasty stuff. Your right it chances cell and the other ones it just flat out fries. I did 6 weeks of radiation for cancer. Not sure I would do it again if I had too. Like I said I would rather take vitamins and put healthy things in my body.
