Basically, will adding a macro lens to my camera make my images look more professional?

are you serious? do you know people study photography for years before attaining pro standards?

pro images are about the light quality used, composition, depth,focus,exposure etc

simply buying another gadget will not bring you skill

as an example goto this picture i have linked: look at it i used a $50 camera and a tripod

you cant buy gear and make pro images you have to learn "photography" first

Only if you are wanting to do macro photography. Your pictures will look more professional when you become more proficient with your camera.

Its not the camera, its the photographer. A simple digicam in the hands of a skilled, knowledgeable photographer can produce excellent images. The most technologically advanced DSLR in the hands of an inexperienced photographer will produce mediocre images.

A camera is a tool, just like a hammer or saw or violin or saxophone. The violin in the hands of a concert violinist or a hammer in the hands of a skilled carpenter produces excellence. In the hands of the untrained either can be disastrous
