I have a different religion then everyone in my class. I'm buddhist. Then someone from my class made a joke saying; Do we have to shave our heads? in my world history class since we're going to studying it. What do I do?

They're kids, and some kids are downright mean and selfish.

Ask your teacher if you can write a paper on Buddhism, and give an oral report in class. If you present Buddhism the right way, maybe then these jerks will leave you alone. If they don't, then you know they have their heads deep up you-know-where.

From grades 3-11, I was teased mercilessly, and to this day some of those grown people really do not remember teasing me back in the day (1978 - 1986). I found out 'cause I saw some of them at classmates.com and exchanged emails there.

All I can say is grin and bear it. I'm from a non-Christian religion as well, the Baha'i Faith, and most of the time people haven't heard of it.

People will attack what they don't understand because they . It's as simple as that. As for kids doing this, they are extremely short-sighted. They lack empathy, meaning that they simply don't have the capacity to understand how another person feels.

You have empathy. Be grateful for this, and be happy that frankly, your character is better than theirs. Don't think this in a conceited way, it's simply the truth.

Best to you!

Ignore the comments, don't let it hurt you, they are only hurting themselves. I for one would love to become a Buddhist, I'm just very spiritual, not religious. Because I'm First Nation, I was ridiculed in a class in High School, it was the ignorant teacher. Take Care and
God Bless

I am a christian. But this is a spirituality forum. In my religion, I am supposed to tell you that my religion is the way. If you are truly seeking the truth, I believe it will find you. Or you will find it. The best answer to me is this. Those who ridicule you either have no truth. Or the truth that they think that they have has not been sought earnestly enough. In your truth, forgive their ignorance. Isn't that what its all about? Forgiveness? Love? Reaching out? Sacrifice? Humility? Giving answers to earnest questions? Look at the rest as background noise. But love them.

I was in your situation throughout high school and college. I was the only Jehovah's Witness in my class. People made jokes and disrespected me and my faith also. I ignored the ones were really crass and took opportunities to explain my faith to those who had a healthy curiosity or genuine interest. I included aspects of my beliefs in class assignments when appropriate. Eventually I earned the respect of most of my classmates. In fact, after my freshman year in high school, other classmates would come to my defense whenever the handful of those who still mocked would rear their ugly heads.

I had this happen alot when I was in class, people whould make stupid remarks and make the sign of the cross at me (I'm wiccan) If their remarks aren't rude, hurtful or disrespectful towards you then I'd suggest joining in with them (weird I know) but some people may just be trying to get a reaction out of you and be seeing how far they can push you until you crack.
I've found that you can educate people alot through laughter.

Why do you anticipate that one and all Jehovah's witnesses sense this way? Heathens are people who don't think in god. all of us comprehend the international is produced from people who've a multitude of ideals so as that is stupid to think of that each and each out fringe of our faith have been strictly heathens 2nd, what 'paintings' are you speaking approximately? the photos interior the magazines and books the society prints? in case you took a 2nd and examine via it you may see that the paragraphs are greater then possibly speaking a pair of particular time in bible history or expounding on some factor.yet if you consider that I dont comprehend precisely what you're pertaining to its difficult to declare. We properly comprehend that there are 'solid' people who're not JWs yet are no faith or a diverse one and we additionally comprehend that there are 2 strategies of doing issues, all issues... Jehovah Gods way and devil's way.

In today's world, being outside the mainstream espically in religion will always give us some issues. I myself have a different faith than all around me. In school it is far worse, as the young have not learned discretion. I say ignore it, and find your inner calm. This would be in keeping with Buddhist beliefs. Learn about their religion, and be willing to discuss theirs. Be tolerant or their faith if you wish them to be tolerant of yours.

I'm a pagan, so I get hassled all the time. Tell them everyone has a right to their own beliefs. Don't wait for a response - just ignore them or walk away from them - it will normally make people stop.

A bully only gets satisfaction if you give them an emotional
response.

Be proud of who you are and of your beliefs. There are plenty who are ignorant of the beautiful wisdom and compassion that is contained in The Buddha's teachings and practices. Perhaps with a gentle spirit you can help change some of your classmates' perception of what it means to be a Buddhist.

Here is one of my favorite quotes from The Buddha:

"You can search throughout the entire universe for someone who is more deserving of your love and affection than you are yourself, and that person is not to be found anywhere. You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe deserve your love and affection."

peace be with you

I am so sorry. My son had this problem for both years of Jr High. Kids, KIDS telling him that he isn't a Christian because he is Mormon. I know that it makes you mad, but the best thing you can do is smile and ask them to worship with your since they have questions. That'll shut them down. Kids are cruel. But they learn this hatred at home and at church. Nice huh?!
