Hogie, how is it possible to keep the spirit of the law if you reject the letter? And yes, Yeshua was talking about all 613 Laws of the Torah in Matthew 5:17-19. Just who would you believe if not the Messiah Himself?

What exactly is the basis for your faith?

Even Paul says: Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Why are you advocating the abolishment of something HOLY??

Do you fall under this condemnation?

1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

Opps, and Hogie, I forgot, NO ONE can keep all 613 of the Torah's commands, that is why we needed grace.
Your arguements against the Law negate the need for grace.

The law has not been abolished, it has been fulfilled by Jesus... Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

Christians that think they can disobey the Law because they are covered by grace are only fooling themselves . Obedience will not get you into heaven , only the blood of Jesus will, but disobedience will definately send you to hell.

So, true Christians do not advocate breaking any commandments of God . Come to Christ!

Jesus fulfilled the law, which is different from abolishing it. The law is still there for non believers and Christians who don't realize what Christ did for us. Believers have new hearts and don't need to follow laws to live right, it is automatic. Sure we fail sometimes, but do you really think following the law means those who don't break the law more? You must not know much of Romans. It's pretty plain. What do you think this means, "THE LAW IS FOR THE LAWLESS'. I might add it is also for those who don't believe they are new creatures. The ten commandments was for the Jewish nation and their society. We are not of the Jewish nation.

The Law was not abolished but fulfilled by Jesus. Jesus encompassed the Law with two very simple commandments. Love the Lord, thy God, above all else, and love thy neighbor as thy self. Love fulfills the law.

I advocate following all of the commandments, even resting on Saturday. Part of loving God with all your heart is following his commandments.

Loaded question. You should know better.

Regardless, are you claiming you keep all 613 laws?

I advocate not keeping those points of law that are "works/deeds" oriented, as they have no value in Christianity where intent of heart is what is important, and not complying with works of the law that have no effect on the heart.

But people hung up on the letter can't see the spirit of the law, which is what is really important.

Christ did not do away with the Law, he just summed up the 10 Commandments in 2 Commandments.

1. Love God with all your heart.

2. Love your neighbor as yourself

Good Question, Lone Ranger:

Breaking one is the same as breaking them all--the Bible tells us so. So my question is why do Christians protest the removal of God's law from the courthouse when they don't obey it--they are worse than pagans who unknowingly transgress.

Let me quote one scripture from an Aramaic translation, that was the the language spoken by Jesus and the disciples before the Greeks and Romans took over.

Hebrews 4:9,10:

"It is therefore the duty of the people of God to keep the Sabbath. For he who has entered into His rest, he also has ceased from his own works, as God did from His."

Now, Christians, those who think they keep God's law, why do you break that commandment?

A Bible code reveals who changed God's law. See http://abiblecode.tripod.com

Shalom, peace in Jesus, Ben Yeshua

There are two commandments the Lord Jesus speaks of:
Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and soul and love
thy neighbor as thyself. If you do this you keep all the commandments. You wouldn't do the others. Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved. Jesus Christ came to fulfill the law and gave us grace and truth. He is the Truth and the way only!

Jesus came to fulfill the Law, not abolish it. As a Christian, I cant advocate breaking a Commandment. Unfortunately, I have broken a few. Thankfully, Jesus came to die for my (and your) sins, so I can still get to Heaven.

Romans 7:21 - 25
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.

What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
