There are many records that affirm that Jesus the Christ did historically exist. Many of the greatest legal minds found the eyewitness accounts of Jesus to be from honest capable witnesses which would stand up to scrutiny in a modern court room. These legal minds include Hugo Grotius, Professor Simon Greenleaf who was the Royal and Dane professor of law at Harvard. He wrote many volumes on what constitutes admissable evidence which are still used. He also wrote a volume examining the testimony of the evangelists by rules of evidence administered in a court of law. Add to that J.N.D. Anderson an internationally respected expert in Muslim and Oriental law. Then add Sir Robert Anderson who was chief insepctor of Scotland yard, twice knighted by Queen Victoria for his ability to sift through the mazes of lies and uncover the truth. He was also a secret service member and former solicitor. Also John Singleton Copley, (Lord Lyndhust) considered one of the greatest legal minds in British history. Then there was Lord Darling, Lord Caldicote, and Lionel Luckhoo(listed in the bok of lists as the most successful lawyer in history having won 247 consecutive cases). These legal minds all found the eyewitnesses to be legally credible witnesses which would be accepted testimony in any fair minded court.Besides al this there is ample references from non Christian sources contained in the writings of Josephus (a Jewish historian born A.D. 37) Cornelius Tacticus a Roman historian and governor of Asia born in A.D. 52. Lucien of Samosata, Suetonius, Plinius Secundus (Pliny the Younger), Tertullian of Carthage, Thallus the Samaritan born historian wrote of Christ in 52 A.D. however his writings have dissappered, Phlegon a fist century historian mentions the darkness on the earth at the time of the crucifixion, a letter by Mara Bar-Sarapion a prisoner who mentions the death of Socrates, Pythagorus and Christ. This list could e updated and expanded but I think I have made the point.

Demons are cast out in Jesus' name. Healings are done in Jesus name. If he isn't real then where does the power to do such things in that particular name comes from? According to my high school teachers, professors, and hundreds of writers, Socrates- the philosopher did exist. He is remembered and revered as a very wise man

I can't imagine a bunch of disciples going to jail, being tortured and dying ignominious deaths for a fabrication, can you?
Hi Kidd!
I Cr 13;8a

Socrates, Aristotle, Plato, the Greeks almost got it right. They came close. But thank God Almighty for Jesus.

So-Crates(apologies to Bill and Ted's) and Jesus were absolutely real. Writing ,especially then was a long tedious thing to do .So if you wanted your words kept, you'd hire a Scribe ,who would take dictation ,so to speak. Otherwise everything was spoken repeatedly. That's why you have small variations in the Gospels. Jesus taught the same lessons over and over.So he'd change them up a little. It didn't change the meaning only the parable.
I mean how'd you like to teach all day ,then say "Excuse me guys,I have to sit down an empress weird letters in clay with my stylus."

not

In Jesus case,
the disciples went and preached to the very place the death and resurrection happened... such details ad the sun being darkened in the day, the earthquake while He died, the viel of the temple being torn... and the tombe being empty were not met with refutations even by the enemies of Jesus

and of course the apostles all went to their deaths believing Jesus died and rose, something that requires a sincere faith not a fabrication

Socrates was a fabrication of Plato. Plato never asserted otherwise.

Jesus might, or mightn't have been a fabrication of his brothers and disciples. Records can't conclusively prove either way.

Socrates was and not Jesus, when the old testament was translated during history they place a lot of Greek ideology in the bible from it and some of their ideas. scholars are finding those mistakes and they have to do with just some letters that can change a lot to a word.

We really can't know either of those things. Not really. However, that Socrates "life" was documented in real-time (so to speak) earns greater cred than Jesus, who's account was carved 20 to 150 years after his apparent demise.

The bible tells me the disciples existed. They suffered for a cause.I don't know about Socrates
but if he suffered that would be the only connection. And whether or not he was real or not.

Because the disciples of Jesus wouldn't suffer torture and death for something they knew to be an exaggeration.
