I remember gossip being spread even in the 5th grade, there was a girl who spread a vicious rumor that her nieghbor had lice and the rumor went around the whole 5th grade like wild fire and it took beleive it or not a good year for the rumor to fully and completly go away and die down. The girl that was talked about did not have lice but everyone treated her like and outcast and she even had horrible nightmare of lice in her hair. I wonder what possesses children to be so cruel and not even apologize for thier wrongdoing? What possesses little girls and even boys to be that vindictive and spiteful at such a young age?
The person that was slandered and gossipped about was me.
And I learned a valuable lesson about how the power of words can hurt people which I beleive is one of the reasons the Lord gave me the gift of encouragement.

I have forgiven this person this saying is true people may not always remember what you said or did but people remember how you made them feel.

It's call peer approval. One kid gets an idea, that "wouldn't this be a good joke to play on someone" So they tell something that is not true to several of their friends, and before long its a full blown catastrophe. Some kids, like some adults are just mean. Some kids learn early in life, that a good way to "elevate" their popularity among their friends is by "putting down" someone else. They get their little groups together and gossip and in the process someone gets hurt.

We are born with the capacity to be greedy and to want good things for ourselves, We have to be taught to be kind and generous. How some people act today is a direct result of how their parents treated them as children.

I have lived for over 60 years with a hurtful thing I said as a 9 year old. God has forgiven me, but I find it very hard to forgive myself.

Because we are all born into sin...no one has to teach kids to be this cruel, but we do have to teach them to be nice. I'm sorry that this happened to you just know that what the devil means for evil the Lord will turn it around for good.
