Wear comfortable sport pants and a long sleeve shirt... put a jacket over that... don't wear a sweater... you'll start sweating on ice.

Wear layers, especially on top. You might be cold at first, but as you start skating, you'll get warmer. Wear stretchy pants (like yoga or running pants) or sweatpants that aren't too baggy. Don't wear thick socks, or the skates won't be very comfortable. Instead, wear thin socks or knee-highs. On top, wear a t-shirt with a sweatshirt over it. Don't worry about wearing a skirt or anything at first. In fact, you'd probably stand out more if you wear a skirt - most people wear pants & sweatshirts when they first learn to skate.
If you have long hair, pull it back into a ponytail. It's hard to skate if your hair keeps falling into your face.
And don't forget some gloves!
Have fun:)

Don't even worry about leotards or any skating outfits at this time! Most people don't wear that stuff for their first ice skating class and some not for a while anyway. Normal "street" clothes that are stretchy enough to exercise in is fine . . . as long as it will keep you warm and you can move around in them pretty freely. Not too tight - and not too loose/baggy. As you keep taking classes, you can build up some sportswear as you see fit . . . but for the first class, not to worry!
Wear layered clothing - to keep you warm and so you can take off a layer in case it gets too warm for you (like a long sleeve T with a light jacket/sweater). Pants with legs that go all the way down - stretchy material preferably. GLOVES are a must. And thin socks (I always wore knee hi's) to minimize the chance of getting blisters. Just keep it simple and use whatever you got in the closet (no need to rush out to get something new . . . take that time to relax before class!).
Have fun with your first skating class - woo hoo!

Well, you do get hot on the ice when you are really moving, but considering that its her first lesson, you probably will want to go warm. (first lessons, you dont do much) Soo.. BRING: gloves, light ... cotton, not big puffy winter some tight pants, or sweat pants that arent too loose (or tights...) a long sleeve shirt with a sweatshirt/sweater some socks that reach up kinda high... like above the ankle. if you have skates, bring those obviously. thats all I would say that you need. its not going to be that much to worry about. the coach will fill you in for sure.

Something confortable and easy to move around in.
I wouldnt suggest jeans because they are stiff and get really wet and soggy when you fall( and I say when because you have to learn to fall first before you can actually skate).
If you have stretchy pants, or sweats, that would be great. Skaters usually wear something form fitting and not baggy so that you can see how well they are bending their knees, ect.
Wear a long sleeve shirt and a jacket. Dress in layers so that you can take some off when you get hot.
Bring long socks and mittens or gloves.
Good luck!

Wear some comfortable pants that you can move in like black knit exercise pants. Wear a short sleeved t-shirt and a a jacket with gloves, and make sure to wear thin nylon or polyester socks that are high enough so that your skates won't rub on ankles and blister. Good luck!

Whatever you do, PLEASE don't wear jeans (especially low rise), tight shirts/pants, short shorts or regular skirts! Not that I'm not a fan of that stuff myself off ice, but I've seen my fair share of butt cracks showing, jeans ripping, you name it.... I always tell my skaters not to wear jeans because jeans limit your flexibility and range of motion -- which you really need in skating! Also, skating lessons aren't really a fashion show -- you can still dress cute, but still be appropriate. Most of my skaters for group lessons wear sweats and t-shirts or sweatshirts, if they wear shorts, they wear tights or if they're more advanced, they wear skating dresses and tights. If they're a little If it's your first lesson, you're probably best off wearing sweats or yoga pants, a long sleeved T or sweatshirt. I think you'd be pretty safe with that and won't feel embarrassed. Don't forget gloves or mittens!

defiantly wear something that doesn't restrict your movement. jazz / dance pants would be a good thing to wear. make sure what ever you wear isn't to baggy because the teacher will want to see how your body moves and its hard to see that under baggy clothing. but i wouldn't worry to much about your first lesson. ask your teacher at your first lesson if there is anything she/he would want you to wear specifically.

I say wear sweatpants, a helmet(some club's require if you are under basic 3), gloves(mittens limit your hand movement), long sleeve shirt, and a sweatshirt. Good Luck!
