Countless stories are told about people who tithed and had remarkable financial results. First of all, understand God does not need your money. God needs you. IF you love the Lord, then you will give accordingly.
My parents tithed from the very beginning of their life together. My father was against it at first because money was tight. But my mother was faithful to the tithe. She did not work outside the home, Dad was the sole breadwinner.
My dad, became a millionaire, and he gives God all the Glory. Time and space will not permit his story, but suffice it to say, that he tithed and God rewarded. My dad never completed high school.
I know a missionary couple, who when in Seminary, were dirt poor. They needed $37.23 to pay a car note back in the 40's.
They tithed on every penny they earned, even when it meant going without something they needed. One day a lady from their church came to their door with a large "piggy bank" that her daughter had for years. She said, her daughter was impressed by God, to give this bank and what ever was in it to the missionary couple. They were so thankful, and when they broke open the bank, they found $40.95 cents.. Lets do the math.37.23 for the car note and $3.72 for their tithe equals $40.95. God is good. Praise Him and He will direct you in your financial decisions.

Like most things.....it really depends on the person.
You can make financial decisions that make your life easier so you can concentrate on the spiritual side of your life.
I'm an Atheist so "spiritual life" may not be the same for everyone.

First of all, one should pray about such decisions, God will let you know one way or another, if it is the right one. Everyone should make God their business partner!!! This would be the best decision any one could make!!! Don't forget, it is always better to GIVE, than to receive.
God Bless
