is there much work? what is the best time to go there and work

Well I live here and LOVE the place. What time of the year are you planning? As Cairns there is a wet season and a dry season. Dec-Feb it is quite humid and rains a bit, but it's great as it cools you off :-)

Try Airlie Beach (near Whitsunday's) especially if you work in Hospitality - awesome party, awesome view :)
