According to their interpretation, Jesus is a lesser god.
If there is one true god, is Jesus a true god or a false god?

If he is a true god then there are two true gods, Jehovah (the Father) and Jesus (the son)

if he is a false god then I don't need to believe in him.

or are they both true God?

thanks.

Jehovah's Witnesses are nontrinitarians, or "unitarians" (with a lower-case "u"). The only Scripture which refers to "the only true God" makes it incredibly obvious that Jesus is a person distinct from "the only true God"!

(John 17:3) This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ.

Since Jesus (the Son) was "sent forth" on an assignment from "the only true God", the two cannot be the same person. Interestingly, the verse even teaches that God is superior to Jesus (since Jesus the Son directs prayer to and performs the work assigned by God the Father).

Meanwhile, it is sad when anti-Witnesses imply that Jehovah's Witnesses believe Jesus to be "false".

None of the Scriptures which have been translated to refer to Jehovah as "true" actually uses a term which is strictly an antonym of "false". Instead, in both Hebrew and Greek the terms convey the sense of being an "absolute" or "genuine" god in comparison with other so-called "gods". Almighty Jehovah has no peer among so-called "gods" such as Baal and Molech, Zeus and Jupiter.

Interestingly, the Scriptures nine times refer to Jehovah as "the true Lord". Yet the word "lord" is used dozens of times in reference to kings, dignitaries, masters, angels, and (of course) Jesus Christ. Would this questioner pretend that all of these "lords" must be "false" or else also be part of a single mysterious multi-personalitied "true Lord"?

Jehovah is called the Only True God in the Bible. John 17:3. How can that be wrongfully interpreted. He's called the Most High. Ps. 83:18. How can anyone get that one wrong?

So---let's look at your question.
There is indeed more than one god. There are billions of gods actually.
When you look up the word god, you'll find at least one definition that says it's an entity that controls people.
That's why when Paul said a stomach is a god, it makes sense. Gluttony was rampant in his time, just like it is now. Food has a harmful control over people.

Satan his a god. The Bible calls him the god of the world.

Look how music, the entertainment industry, and football players are so idolized.
It's not out of the ballpark to say that some actually worship movie stars, singers, sports players. It's all they think about.
Not that the young and ignorant prostrate, and pray to them. It's how the world envelops their thinking, and strays them from God is what is dangerous.

Why is Jehovah called the Only True God?
Like Jesus is a false god? No.
It's because He is the One that has set up the Kingdom.
That is why He is called the King of Kings in the Bible.
It's His throne that He has allowed men to sit on such as David, Saul, etc.
It's His throne that He has placed Jesus on.

So it's Jehovah that has set up the system to save us.
Jesus is indeed instrumental in it, but he does not command the worship due to his Father, Jehovah.
Besides, he never commands the worship due to Jehovah. The Bible shows that Jesus himself worships God the Father.

I'm an upper-case Unitarian, except we've been Unitarian Universalists since 1961. JW's are lower-case unitarians. They are a denominatin of Christians. We aren't. The different denominations of Christians argue over the nature of God all the time. We UU's do too, but it is more of 'Is there one?" than your "Exactly how does He tie his shoes?"

As long as you do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with thy God you should be OK.

This "a god" term is not so confusing. It seems many readers either dont understand the usage of the term "god" in the bible or really insist on there and *ONLY* there preconceived opinion.

Exo 7:1 mentions something quite interesting with regards to Moses roll with Pharoah.

Jesus is a true "God" because he represents the only true God. That Simple.

Thats it.

The bible list 3 types of Gods / gods

1st is the only true God (John 17:3)

2nd are the false gods (Baal, Satan, food, etc)
Why are they false gods? because people worship them.

the 3rd type of God found in the bible are those
called god(s)/God.

The word God literally means 'Mighty'

Who are some 'Mighty' Ones in the Bible?

Moses, (Ex 7:1)
Angels (Judges 13:21,22)
human Judges (Ps 82:6)
Jesus (John 1:1)

Are these false Gods?

No !

They can become false Gods if you start to worship them.

Jesus is the only-begotten son of God, the only Son produced by Jehovah alone. This Son is the first born of all creation.

God is The Supreme Being, whose distinctive name is Jehovah
(Ps.83:18)

Jesus himself referred to his Father as "the only true God." (John 17:3)

Jehovah himself said: "Besides me there is no god." (Isa. 44:6)

The apostal Paul wrote that, to true christians, "there is...one God the Father." (1Corth. 8:5,6)

So Jehovah is unique; no one else shares his position. Jehovah stands in utter contrast to all such objects of worship as idols, deified humans, and Satan. All these are false gods.

WHAT KIND OF GOD IS JESUS

Jesus is spoken of in the scriptures as "agod," even as "Mighty God.' (John 1:1; Isa. 9:6) But nowhere is he spoken of as being ALMIGHTY, as Jehovah is. (Gen. 17:1) Jesus is said to be "the reflection of [God's] glory," but the Father is the Source of that glory. (Heb. 1:3) Jesus in no way seeks the position of his Father. He said: "It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is him alone you must render sacred service." (Luke 4:8) He exists "in God's form," and the Father has commanded that "in the name of Jesus every knee should bend," but this is all done "to the glory of God the Father."-Phil 2:5-11

Yes as was Moses.

Exd 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Satan a former Angel of God is the god of this system of things.

2Cr 4:4 "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

The verse says Jesus is the "image of God" and not God himself. Perhaps this verse shows the god of this system has blinded people to that fact.

JW's don't agree with orthodox (true) Christian Belief of history, The HOly Trinity being the one true God.

As a Catholic Christian, we believe that our earthly families are created in the image and likeness of the true perfect family: The Holy Trinity (God). God in his deepest mystery isn't a solitude, but an eternal family of self-giving life and love between The Father and The Son, their love is so real that it begets the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity, The Holy Spirit. God is three persons who are a single nature. God The Father, God The Son, and GOd the Holy Spirit, each are fully God and they are one God.

In marriage, the hidden mystery of the Triune God is reavealed, when a man and a women give their life and love to eachother and it becomes so real that 9 months later, they have a baby. God bless.

‘Christ according to the faith, is the second person in the Trinity, the Father being the first and the holy Ghost the third. Each of these three persons is God. Christ is his own father and his own son. The Holy Ghost is neither father nor son, but both. The son was begotten by the father, but existed before he was begotten--just the same before as after. Christ is just as old as his father, and the father is just as young as his son. The Holy Ghost proceeded form the Father and Son, but was an equal to the Father and Son before he proceeded, that is to say before he existed, but he is of the same age as the other two. Nothing ever was, nothing ever can be more perfectly idiotic and absurd than the dogma of the Trinity.’
