Yes, the infrastructure is good for drinking water purification in St Maarten.

I have everytime I have been there and oddly enough, I have never even thought about it. I travel all the time and its a major consideration in most countries but I just drink right out of The tap in St, Martin. I don't remember how I knew it was Ok but no ill effects at all.

According to the website below, the tap water is purified.

If it is not emergency don`t drink tap water, i am not suggesting...
