Your Versa 1.8S does not come equipped with HID lighting. The Versa has one Hi/Lo bulb. To have the "HID Look" you might want to invest in some Sylvania Silverstars.

If you really want to have HIDs you're going to have to retrofit them into your headlight housings (costs somewhere between $150-$400 for Hi/Lo HID kits). If you're not on par with electricals, add to that cost the labor for installation. I would highly advise not to retrofit HID kits into your car if you don't have the know-how to maintain it. BTW, the bulbs alone can cost you somewhere between $90-$250 depending on the bulb's kelvin rating and brand and needs to be handled with care. The best Kelvin rating you can get is a 4300k which is "bright white" but you can bump that up to 6000k for that bluish look without compromising visibility.

Good Luck.

P.S. In response to the "Master Technician" : Cars with HID usually have an auxilliary HiBeam housing (i.e. 2k2-2k3 Maxima). I own one and I see FINE at night even without switching on the HiBeams. Please do not mislead.

I have a Nissan Versa since Feb 2007, only put on 2,700 miles on it so far. I have an auto transmission, but not with the CVT. The engine is very agile and it is a real fun to drive. The gas mileage I got is around 26 mpg with AC on. The cabin space is very big, a friend at 6'6" fits in the back seat easily with the front seat pushed all the way back. I am happy with my Nissan so far until lately. I am hearing some screeching noise from the engine on the passenger side. I am going to take it to the dealer later this afternoon and will keep you posted if it is a serious problem. The only other complain I have is the AC is not as cold as I wanted. But this could probably be due to the fact that I am in West Texas, mid of the summer. As for other smaller car that you are checking out, I checked out Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Chevy Aveo and Mazda 3. I liked Toyota Yaris, especially the 2-doors hatch back, plus it is cheaper than Versa too. The only reason I didn't get it is because a friend's dad strongly recommended against it. Friend's dad had been design engineer at Ford for over 20 years and he got to test drive many different cars (though I don't know how). He recommended Nissan Versa over Yaris for smaller car. That's just my 2 cents that I got from someone else.

Remember most HID set ups are low beam then your bright blue lights might not help much if you actually drive at night. Most owners opt out for super blue 55/80 watt halogen bulbs. AND that other answer High intensity discharge does use bulbs, transformers and different wiring to the back of the bulb. So you might ask does this HID system also have high beam? New Z car uses a shutter that moves so one HID does low and high beam

There is no such thing as a "HID lightbulb". Being HID means there is no bulb.
