I am a foreigner student of English, and my English teacher corrected my test like this:

You have to phone her YOURSELF.

but I had put like this:

You have to phone her BY YOURSELF.

I would like to know if my answer is correct too.
plz I need the mark. lol

They are both correct.
The teacher's sentence means that only you should call her.
Your sentence means that you should be alone in the room when you call her.

No, your answer is not correct too. When you say you have to phone her by yourself, that means you can't have anyone else with you - you have to be all by yourself. But when you say you have to phone her yourself, that means you have to do the phoning.
It's a small point, but if you want to use correct English, you will find that it is the small things that make the big differences between speaking English as though it were your first language, and sounding like someone who is learning English as a second or third language.

Subtle difference: by using "by yourself" you meant that you are calling her when you are alone, as opposed to just doing it yourself, which was the correct answer.

No, your teacher is correct.
By phoning her yourself, you are saying that you called her yourself.
By phoning her by yourself, you are saying that you called her with no one around.

you ccan say what u said. but it is more proper by not saying by yourself. they kinda have different means but not really.
