He needed churches to house the evil and hoard" their" money! Many evil people come from churches from parishioners, to priests to the Crusade and to supporting Hitler while he exterminated the Jews. Many in this country would like to have that happen, in fact most on here on the right were rooting for the terrorist group Hezbollah, who bombed a US Marine barracks in Lebanon and killed 242 Marines, over Israel! God was a Jew, not a Catholic or even a Christian! And they call themselves Christians!
In many cases the Bible is less accurate than George Bush, who also claims to be a Christian while putting the mentally ill and those who were children to death in Texas, much like he is doing to our troops and Iraqis! No wonder there are some many agnostics and atheists!

One should remember that in the OT scriptures basically what it was saying is that EVERYTHING comes from the same SPIRIT---the 'good', the 'bad', the 'beautious', and the 'UGLY'.
This was in contrast to many of the OTHER pagani traditions of the time period, who separated out their god forms in different aspects...like the greeks, egyptians, canaanites, etc-- A god(dess) of war, a god(dess) of love, etc.
'Evil' was a translational word used in the verse you mentioned. The semetic terms used in the early translations was 'WOE', which can also be translated as 'misery' or 'hardship'.
Think about it, if EVERYTHING was ALWAYS 'hunkie doorie' what would inspire people to 'grow', 'evolve'. What would they have to compare it ALL to? Hheheee that is when you get people with a 'paper cut' acting like they have a gaping wound across their abdomen with all their intestines hanging out.
How would people know what they COULD actually be capable of if they didn't have obstacles or challenges IN their lives?
IF you have watched the movie, "The Matrix', they kinda get into the concept. If you haven't seen, watch it.
One should also keep in mind the HISTROICAL concept of a god. In an age that didn't have the benefit of the 'sciences' that we know NOW, EVERYTHING that people really couldn't explain became the province of the gods.
When a plague would hit a community, why did some people live and some die? It was 'easier' to say, those that died had offended the gods. Why would a drought occur? Because God willed it. Another reason that every culture had their myths to explain things.

Most bibles have made that a more accurate word, "calamity" or "disaster" because in Hebrew "ra" means more than one thing. The KJV has little english quirks, Im sure it was difficult to translate in english. Try the NKJV and NASB, they are much better english translations. www.biblegateway.com
I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create calamity; I, the Lord, do all these things.' (Isaiah 45:7)
God causes all things to work for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. (Romans 8:28)
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11)
God is just and patient but there is a judgement and God does not like when people are in rebellion to Him. God bless.

At first it might seem that if God created all things then evil must have been created by God. However, there is an assumption here that needs to be cleared up. Evil is not a "thing" - like a rock or electricity. You can't have a jar of evil! Rather, evil is something that occurs, like running. Evil has no existence of its own - it is really a lack in a good thing. For example, holes are real but they only exist in something else. We call the absence of dirt a hole - but it cannot be separated from the dirt. So when God created, it is true that all that existed was good. One of the good things that God made was creatures who had the freedom to choose good. In order to have a real choice, God had to allow there to be something besides good to choose. So God allowed these free angels and humans to choose good or non-good (evil). When a bad relationship exists between two good things we call that evil, but it does not become a "thing" that required God to create it.

The word for "evil" in the Hebrew is ra`ah which is more accurately translated, "adversity".
However, it can also be used as "evil", and if this is the case, then you must understand that free will without choice is an illusion. Evil did not just pop out of no where, it had to be given the potential to be chosen. Who created the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil? It was God. Satan cannot create, so Satan did not create the potential for evil, it was God who created it. Whether one chooses or shuns it is the entire point.

He doesn't literally create evil...God, by giving man the gift of free will...is aware that some men will choose to do other than His (God's) will. That is called "evil." Evil is simply the product of a man choosing to go against God's will.
God will never force us to do anything. If He did, we would be His slaves. Free will is born of love...the opposite of slavery.
Let's say God created the baseball bat. It in itself is neither good nor evil. But a man can use the bat to play a baseball game...or to murder somebody. Man makes the choice...not God.

The is the theological problem in Christianity if God is love then why is there evil?
Islam answers this how else could you know good without there being evil. Then could you then consider this oppression? Well no because we belong to God and he can do with us what he likes, there is no oppression.
Evil has many benefits how else would we turn to God with their being a calamity in our lives that turns us to him this is a blessing.

The word "create" was missTranslated.
It should Read "lets it happen".
Translations.
The Original Writings in the Original Languages would Read this Way.
GOD's Glory (Power) is so Great (we can't even Imagine it) that Evil and Wickedness CANNOT stand in HIS Presence.
If GOD Created (it is Possible) Evil---HE and EveryThing Else would Self-Destruct into Utterly NothingLess.
Nothing. (kapute! big-time)

Biblical passages are always open to wide interpretation. I believe that most if not all the evil on this Earth is created by man himself. Think about it. God provided us with a virtual paradise, we are the ones that have introduced the evil. Self centered greed always precipitates evil.

Why such a selective traslation? NIV states:
I form the light and create darkness,
I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the LORD, do all these things. Isaiah 45:7
You see you can't just read one translation and make broad assumptions about what it is actually saying.
