Plants need sunlight to perform photosynthesis and grow. Because plants in the wild tend to germinate under larger plants, they have to grow towards whatever light they can find in order to keep growing and not die from lack of sunlight.

Plants have to have light for photosynthesis, sunlight being the best they will grow towards the windows. Turn them when you water them and they should be fine.
