Ah, to be 14 again. I know how it feels to be 14 and in love. People say that it's just puppy love, but the person really doesn't feel that way. The truth is, no matter what "kind" of love it is, usually it's really a great feeling and the person wants that feeling to go on forever. There's no blame in that. But a 14 year old is literally just starting out in life. When you're a teen, you really think that you're almost grown, but when you get to be 21, 22, you realize how really really young 14 is. It's not to say that teens don't fall in love, yes they do, definitely. But growing up before it's time is really not a great thing. Everything should be done at it's time. Teens should go bowling, go to dances, share some kisses, talk about their crushes.. it's just a normal teen experience, and it can be very fun. But when a 14 year old starts thinking and talking about sex, marriage, and other very serious things, it's like taking a part of their childhood away. My friend started having sex at 16, and was pregnant by 18 (although she had protected sex), and had an abortion. She's never been the same since, really. Her boyfriend and her broke up (not because of the abortion.. they broke up a year later), and now she's with someone else whom she wants to marry (she's 23 now). From a legal standpoint, I don't believe it's legal, but just from a LIFE standpoint, it's just not right in so many ways. Now is the time for your friend to enjoy not having the responsibilities that come with being 20, 25, 30, and just to enjoy young love, first love. There's no reason why they can't be boyfriend and girlfriend, but husband and wife? That's a concept that even most 20 year olds can't fully grasp. You know what they say, girl.. with age, comes wisdom, and that's definitely true. I remember what it's like to be 14, it wasn't that long ago for me.. but being 23 now really makes me realize the huge gap between the teens and the 20's. It's really pretty amazing, just the few years, and the difference it makes. All stages of life have their special times, so just enjoy the one ya'll are in. :o)

I do know all states say if your a minor you need written permission of your parents. Some it's age 16 others it's 14. The only way around is to emancipate yourself. "Divorce" your parents and be declared by a judge as an adult.
As for 14 thats a little young, and most Officiants in there right mind would not marry someone that young.

i don't think any state will let them get married unless they are from a different country and that is there custom, or she is pregnant ( not saying get pregnant). But when you really think about who wants to get married at the age of 14. There is no fun in that. They can't drive anywhere, they can not work(babysitting or walking a dog),they will still have to live with a parent and do what they say. You still have to go to school and everything else. There will be no fun at all. She really needs to wait so they can both enjoy life, and learn how to really love someone.

You would have to check the laws of your state as to how old she must be, and yes she would need her parents to sign for her. And why in God's name does she want to get married at 14!!!!!! How old is her boyfriend? Is she pregnant? How will they live?
Not enough info to give a truly encompassing answer- but discourage her from marrying at 14!

My cousin, at fifteen years old, got married and him and the girl really regreted it. This was in Oklahoma though and they had to have consent from a parent/gaurdian. But SHE realized afterwards that she was too young and that she hadn't lived at all. Sit your friend down and let her know, friend to friend, the mistake she's making. Reassure her that if they are really meant to be and truly love each other, their love will last and only flourish through the years, but if they rush and crawl before they walk it will result in failure. Good Luck!

No she can't get married without her parent's permission!!! Tell her that! What does that say? It says that those age 14 are NOT ready to make that decision. I don't think any sane parent would give permission for their 14 year old daughter to get married. Age 14 - what is that - 8th or 9th grade? NOT! Don't worry...your friend isn't getting married anytime soon.

No state allows marriage at that age eith ot without parental consent. Tell your friend to cool it for another 10 years. Believe me, they are getting married in December. Nobody will marry them and it wouldn't be legal anyway.

Hopefully, her parents have the good sense to prevent this from happening. If you are a good friend, you will encourage her to slow down, wait until she is at least 18 (even better, 21).
