Do you believe that we should all have the right to do whatever we want as long as it doesn't limit the rights of others, or do you believe in legislating your morality (which is different depending on the denomination) into public laws?

Do I believe that the world needs morals and standards, or do I think that we should have a policy of situational ethics (do whatever feels good as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else)?

I am speaking from experience here, because I have lived my own life at different times with deep conviction in each of these philosophies. My life is far better now, following the principles of God's word with my heart, than I was repeatedly running after my own lusts to my own hurt.

I can tell you that the world is corrupt, and that it needs laws with a basis in what is right. We in this Western society do not remember a time before democracy and civility. But the world was an awful and bloody place for several millenia before we got here. The arrangement we have now affords us a great deal of freedom, and yet keeps us safe to a great extent (this is relatively speaking).

Barbarism and anarchy is not desirable in the least. Evil people like to think that a state of anarchy is desirable, because they would be able to get whatever they want just by taking it. But they are fools. Because they are not thinking about all the other people that will be doing exactly the same thing - to them.

We have a great many laws in our society, and many more are being written every day. But the bottom line is, you cannot legislate people until they have a conscience. People need a tranformatin of the heart, and this can only happen by being touched by God Himself. That is what our society needs most today.

People on the street may not realize this, but we are experiencing moral decay in the USA right now. And as this happens, we are actually sliding backward into that state of lawlessness and brutality and violence and wickedness and corruption. Just read the headlines. America needs God.

I think that's a great question. All law is legislated morality. People believe it's morally wrong to kill, rape children, etc... that is legislating morality. However I don't believe that a Christians purpose is to legislate morality. It doesn't make people righteous in God's eyes if you get them to do or stop doing a certain behavior. You can follow all the rules and still have an evil heart. Change the heart and you'll change the behavior. Just my opinion. thanks

Have the right to do whatever you want as long as it doesn't limit the rights of others.

Do you understand that this principle can be wholly subjective, and that each person could have their own opinion of what does, and does not "limit" other people's rights?

There are pedophiles that are fully convinced what they are doing is just fine and insist it's "nurturing" to the children they are involved with.

Being a Christian, I will continue to vote for laws that are in line with scripture, and against those that are not in line with scripture. Now....that is MY freedom.

Christians ought to have faith what they choose; as ought to non-christians. this is the hallmark of our united states of america. As for recognizing gay marriage, I even have purely a sprint of a distinctive take. i've got faith that marriage is a spiritual doctrine ... some religions say that comparable-intercourse can not marry; some religions say that a divorced guy or woman can not remarry, etc. My answer: The state ought to easily understand civil unions. a marriage would be secure interior the civil union definition. yet in any different case, what's the factor? a guy and a woman? advantageous -- yet no longer known by ability of a few church homes (if one or the two are before married). So ... the state ought to understand civil unions (for objective of divorce, taxes, chilid custody and belongings rules), yet no longer the subset of marriage. This additionally protects people who do no longer purely like the techniques of particular human beings calling themselves "married" decrease than the regulation. There would be no such distinction -- purely civil unions. people who're traditionally married (one guy, one woman) can call themselves married in social settings, yet that does no longer confer a felony status. people who're no longer can call themselves regardless of they choose (they do already), yet for the two, it truly is purely a civil union.

I believe in freedom, and so does God, that is why we have free will. I will add that I also believe in reaching out to a hurting world and trying to show them that we by our own actions are destroying this world, not only in a physical sense but also in a spiritual sense. So that you understand what I am saying WE reap what We sow.

You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

Christianity is about becoming free, people have screwed it up into trying to legislate morality again but that is not what Christianity is about.

I do not believe in freedom, because freedom really is just an illusion. Freedom to its fullest extent is an infinity of options, none of which are pleasing enough to actually decide upon. It is the freedom to be entrapped by indecision. But...yeah, don't legislate morality....

It is for freedom that Jesus Christ has set you free.

And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

That's all Christianity is - freedom. Your question is like asking, "Christians do you believe in Christ"!
