when the computer is booting, start press the F8 key

Turn on your PC.
As soon as you see the black & white screen where memory is being scanned, etc., press and hold the F8 key. Continue holding until you get a black and white DOS menu. You will see the number for Safe Mode - which will probably be F3.
Press it.
Icons and text will appear very large.
click Start
Settings
Control Panel
make corrections or whatever brought you here
when finished, click Exit.
Windows will load and you will return to your normal screen - however, your icons will no doubt be out of order. No biggee. Just drag them back.
