The Flu is one of those things that is different for everyone. Some people get the flu and get away with a box of Kleenex and some tomato soup. Your Boyfriend seems like he has it bad. For holding down the food i would suggest different temp foods, such as cold Yogurt or hot Tomato soup whatever he happens to like. When he is feelings really bad try and get him to take a shower, it really helps kill the fever and return the body to its normal temperature.

One way to get him to eat things is make something that tastes really good. Look up some Smoothie recipes with lots of fruit with a high water content(IE: you can squeeze them and juice comes out) and make him some smoothies. Hell who doesn't like a smoothie every now and then?

Lots of rest, water, fruit juices and Sudafed, either night-time or the daytime should do the trick in a few days. Good Luck to you and your boyfriend!

The human body can go without food (especially if he's vomiting) for a long time. But water is necessary, or some clear liquid. Start out with just sips, or even ice chips. If he's feverish he runs a greater risk for dehydration. The flu can last for up to 10 days or so, but after a couple of days of fever and vomiting, I would definitely call a doctor. Good luck.

The human body can go significant time without eating.

If he doesn't fel like eating for a few days, then don't force him.

Fluids are important daily! Make sure he is drinking plenty, water, juice, lemonade ....... Try to avoid caffeine (coffee, tea, cola) or fizzy drinks (soda).

As he starts to improve, offer small meals, attractively served to tempt him. Omlettes, salads etc are nourishing and easy to eat.
