Great question, I love it. There probably isn't one. What I love even more is the typical attitude of Christians exposed in Jack's answer (4th answerer). "How dare you!"... ever question anything or think for yourself?...
LOL. Imagine where society would be if everyone had always thought like that.

The book of Hebrews, Chapter 9, Verses 27 and 28:
"Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."
Very clear: Die once, then judgement, not purgatory, not limbo, not anihilation, or even a second chance. Death, then judgement. Christ died once a a sin sacrifice. He will return, but not to offer forgiveness of sin, but only to take those who have already placed their faith and trust in Him before He returns.
Jesus was also very clear about the path one must take to receive the gift of eternal life. He said, "I tell you the truth, the man who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber." John 10:1
Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep." John 10:7
Jesus said, "I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved." John 10:9
One way into eternal life, through Jesus. Try to get in any other way and he says you are the same as a thief and a robber. No second chances beyond this life. You die once, then directly to judgement.
God bless you.

With God all things might be possible, but repentance after death isn't one of them.
Reference the story of Lazarus the beggar and the rich man.
The Rich man died and went to Hades-Sheol, to suffer. Do you not think if he could have repented post death, he would have? And, Jesus said "there was a certain man". This was NOT a parable, but a real story of two actual people.
What did the Rich man experience in Hades-Sheol? He experienced pain, thirst and other senses. He recognized Abraham, whom he had never seen and was able to talk to him. He remembered Lazarus and begged that he could come over to comfort him.
Lastly, he remembered that his family wasn't saved either and begged to come back from the dead to warn them (this scripture pretty much blows reincarnation out of the water - as in there is none).

Since the book & verse has already been posted, let me give an example. We are trying to warn non-believers now, to accept Jesus. Example: I see someone standing in the path of an oncoming truck. I'm trying to warn him of the danger, but he doesn't believe me. After he gets hit by the truck, it's too late for him to believe me and get out of danger. Hope this helps.

Well I don't know if it says it anywhere in the bible but, it makes plenty of sense to me that if we die and we have not accepted Jesus in our life's we are there for are going to a place of the unknown.. Be it hell or a place where one will try to repent but it will forever be to late. Here on earth is where we need to be good and if we have hurt anyone we must ask God to forgive us.
I guess somethings in life we must do what our hearts goodness tells us to do and use our God given common sense to know that God has left his commandments in writing. What doesn't it say there that one can't understand? The Ten Commandments are simple.

not sure there is one..however.......as was asked earlier by someone "are there second chances?"
and the answer is yes. Revelation 20 documents this.
the day of the Lord/millennium/1000 years is a time of teaching to those who did NOT make it in the flesh. and yes many of them will make it out of that day and the second temptation of satan and into the eternity. again Revelation 20 documents this. many won't. many will. the first death is the flesh death. second death as those will be subject to is the death of the soul in the lake of fire.
so no, not believing now in the flesh does not automatically put one into the lake of fire. but after the millennium follow satan again? Then yes absolutely that is the last chance and that soul will hit the lake.
good luck.
freewill for all souls believe as you will.

Yes. It is appointed to man once to die, and then the judgment. Hebrews 9:27.
Mormons, and other cults, get themselves in tremendous trouble by adding things to scripture that are not in there. One of the things they have added is that, after death, people can repent, or that their living relatives can "baptise for the dead". The bible says absolutely nothing along those lines, and points to all confessions of repentance being said in this life only.

I can't recall which book/verse, but we're told that we die "once, then the judgment." We don't get a chance to change our minds after we die. Our choices stop with our last breath.
If someone baptizes you by proxy, it doesn't change one thing about your judgment. That is a lie perpetrated by a cult.

The matthew verse you quote is out of context. He is talking about a rich man entering the kingdom of heaven and the working of God in the life of a man while the man lives. Take a look at this:
19 "Now there was a rich man, and he habitually dressed in purple and fine linen, joyously living in splendor every day. 20 "And a poor man named Lazarus was R709 laid at his gate, covered with sores, 21 and longing to be fed with the crumbs which were falling from the rich man's table; besides, even the dogs were coming and licking his sores. 22 "Now the poor man died and was carried away by the angels to Abraham's R710 bosom; and the rich man also died and was buried. 23 "In Hades R711 he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far away and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 "And he cried out and said, `Father R712 Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool off my tongue, for I am in agony in this R713 flame.' 25 "But Abraham said, `Child, remember that during R714 your life you received your good things, and likewise Lazarus bad things; but now he is being comforted here, and you are in agony. 26 `And besides F376 all this, between us and you there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us.' 27 "And he said, `Then I beg you, father, that you send him to my father's house-- 28 for I have five brothers--in order that he may warn R715 them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.' 29 "But Abraham said, `They have Moses R716 and the Prophets; let them hear them.' 30 "But he said, `No, father R717 Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!' 31 "But he said to him, `If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.' "
