my boyfriend hurt his groin?

He is working on a roof and carry a tool belt around his waist. He has done this forever. Today he felt a severe pain and his whole groin area hurt really bad even when he talked or yelled. It does not hurt when he is sitting. Does anyone have a clue as to what this is?

Sounds like a hernia. He should see a doctor this may require surgery. good luck
