I don't read the fiction work known as the Bible. I agree with you as you only have to look at the Adam and Eve story..where Eve is the stupid one willing to commit sin and wise goody two shoes Adam is so intelligent for he knows it's wrong but being the saint he is, he does it out of love for Eve..aww what a hero! lol

You can tell that piece of fiction was written by a male can't you? lol

I have no idea what you're talking about. True, the man is the spiritual head of the house, but see, back then they didn't have little cushy jobs and babysitters. Back then, the women cooked the food, did inside chores, took care of the children, and then men hunted. Why?

First of all, women have breasts. This may come as a suprise. Anyway, see, they were the only ones that could feed babies, cause there obviously weren't bottles back then, and women were brought up to do domestic things, because, yes, this is a fact, girls unless you're a body builder, the average male is probably stronger than you. It's not bias, it's a fact. Thus, the men hunted and built houses and the women took care of kids and cooked. In our society today, this is seen as sexist, because now we have washers and dryers and we can hire people to raise our kids for us so that we can go have our little career. I personally believe that there is nothing bad about a woman having a job, so long as it doesn't interupt her first priority: her family. However, it's also the same for men. They need to put their family first.

There were unbelievable amounts of work to do back then for the average person, so everyone, man and woman, had to do their part. Yes, the woman submits to the man, but the man is also supposed to consider what his wife believes, and is supposed to come to a compromise.

In the New Testament, Jesus revers women, puts them on a pedestal as the only ones that can give life. Because, no, guys cannot have kids by themselves. The Bible isn't misogynistic, it shows how a man and woman can properly work together to have a family.

Perhaps you only read the parts of the Bible that you wanted? Ignored everything else?

Yeah, I just don't get the whole idea that women are supposed to be or like to be submissive. I think they have to be trained that way.

Some say that the fact that their husbands are supposed to love them makes it okay... but I say that's how it's supposed to be between equals too.

I think women may be particularly vulnerable to the idea of being valued but humble at the same time. It's a nice thought, but submissiveness isn't a requirement for this pretty picture either.

Might be interesting to take a poll on how many Christian women actually do obey their husbands, as stated in their vows. Betcha not that many.

I am a devout Christian woman and I have read the bible many times and will continue to read God's word, however I have to disagree with you, who did Jesus reveal himself to before anyone else? Mary and Martha .... Who was at his foot that night pouring perfume over his feet.. a woman, who did he offer water so that you will never thirst again??? A woman. I think you have to look at it in a different way, not be so proud but to humble yourself, my husband is the head of our household, that is how we live our life. But of above most My GOD is before him and me and yes even you. Read what you talk about on here and really look and hear God's word and maybe you will understand. I hope you find HIM.

The culture in which the Bible was written was admittedly male dominant. But there are no doctrines that hold women back at all. Look at the way Jesus treated women.

If you do your research, you will find that Christianity brought woman back to their rightful place in society. Check out the history of the culture before then and you will see for yourself. Have you talked with the children of God about this subject and how Jesus Christ changed their lives, or are you just taking your circumstances into consideration. It is worth investigating.

I agree, but being a Christian woman doesn't necessarily mean following the old tenets set forth there, that is more a Bible follower. Jesus set women free.

Why do women follow islam when islam was fully misogynistic. Its growing up into the culture which makes people more acceptant of it. The bible also teaches that women are also equal to men, and in the eyes of God all of his children are equal.

The question is not why does God "set us back" - it is about following God's commandments and precepts. "If ye love me, keep my commandments". Also, I don't believe God intended for women to be doormats or puppies. God commands men to love their wives - that is done by respect, not putting them down; also - read Proverbs 31 - does that look like a woman held back to you? She is proficient in business and family. Now why would God put that in there if He wanted to hold us back?

So women who choose to believe in God are stupid.

OK. Whatever.

Seriously, if you're going to ask a question - just ask it. There's no need to insult anybody - it doesn't make you look clever or funny.
