Ok. If you are in the Army dep, you are stuck. Here is how it works. You are in the system at meps as Army. Until the Army discharges you from the dep, you can't go into the Marines. They can hold on to your paper work for a year. After a year the system automatically discharges you. Your Marine recruiter will have to talk to the Army recruiter nicely and convince him to discharge you. I went through this with one kid when I was recruiting.

Talk to the Marine recruiter he will tell you like it is. Of course the army recruiter will make it sound like a huge task for you to move to the Marines for obvious reasons. Worst case if it does take 6-7 months, if you really want to be a Marine that shouldn't matter. The Marine Corps is not going anywhere

The TRUTH and simple fact is that your Army recruiter used you to make his recruiting goal for the month. So he is going to delay that eventuallity as long as he possibly can.
How long ? Well it usually takes a month past your shipping date (day you were supposed to leave for basic) for your to recieve your paperwork.
Refusing to ship out does have consequences. First they are going to delay the paperwork as long as possible and I am not sure if the Marine Corps recruiter can get a waiver for that after you finally get your paperwork. You need to ask him/her.
I know in the Navy it's possible, but you will have to get the Commanding Officer of the recruiting district to okay the waiver. It involves an interview with the Chief Recruiter and the Captian. You better have a good reason why you didn't go to the Army and be able to convince the Chief recruiter and Captian that if they sign you up you will definately leave as promised.
There is no longer a draft, it's an all volunteer force. There is no way your going to get cuffed and stuffed in a police car or mp truck and dragged to MEPS. But I'll bet my paychewck the Army recruiter will be banging on your door at 4:30 am to get you to ship out. I have also seen them have a police car standing by there too so you will be intimadated and lot's of other "dirty tricks".

It is bs you are getting from the Army recruiter. Of course he's pissed, but it will only take a couple weeks at the most to get discharged from the Army. He's just hoping that you will wait a long time, long enough for you to just stick with your decision. Please just make up your mind once and for all for the sake of your Marine recruiter.

Unless you have already sworn into active service in the Army, tell the Army recruiter to shove it. Go into the Marine recruiter and start you processing all over. Good luck dude.

Wow, it usually works the other way around. That is, new Marines wanting to get into the army.
I suggest you go to the Marine recruiter who will enlist you immediately. Sign the paper work and go. If the Army doesn't like it, tell them to take it up with the Marines! If you go to a recruiter and he doesn't do what you want...go to another.
Good Luck

yes, It can take that long.. and also, you run the risk of the Marines not giving you the waiver since you are already a DEP Loss for one Branch. They want to make sure you won't pull the same stunt on them.
Of course your Army recruiter is peeved at you, he spent a lot of time and effort on you and you are flaking on him.
