Certainly, if you meant the descendants of those who settled the New World - now known as America, thus the Americans and not the indigenous natives in that new world.
Such arrogance, intolerance, aggressiveness and ignorance is in their gene, dna, in their blood.
I am of the opinion that unless they do - as the former Pope who provided the world Vatican II - beg forgiveness for past misdeeds of his forebears, it would remain so maybe till the seventh generation.

Free speech. They also have the most loving, involved, caring, and communicative members of any of the branches around the world.
You have to look at the wider spectrum, not just one end.
Free speech allows them to express things that in other countries would get them killed, abused, and otherwise hurt, particularly in the region of Islam.
In the United States, ALL groups follow this pattern eventually.
Look at our politics!

americans are typically that way regardless of the religion, race, etc. It is more about american culture and less about religion.
