I've got a bit of a toothache in one of my bottom molars, it's been there a few days now, it's not REALLY bad, I've been taking ibuprofen which has helped, but it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Thing is, I was only at the dentist in July and he said I didn't have any cavities, so what's causing this toothache? Is it possible that I've developed a cavity in this short a space of time? I've never had any problems with my teeth, never had any fillings etc.

It's definitely not sore enough to be an abscess, I've seen my brother when he had that and I'm nothing like he was. It's probably only about 3 or 4 out of 10 on a pain scale, definitely not more than 4.

Although the dentist said I had no cavities, he didn't do any x-rays, so am I right in thinking I could have a cavity between my teeth that he didn't actually see?

Oh, and I've booked an appointment to get it checked out in 2 weeks. I was just wondering what I should expect.......

There could be a few possibilities,as you have been checked recently,it's highly unlikely to be a cavity as it would have to be quite advanced to cause pain. The pain you describe could be a wisdom tooth coming through. If you already have them then another likely cause could be your gum. Is it possible that some food has become trapped between the teeth or have you bitten anything hard recently? It's amazing how painful it can be!
Give your mouth a gentle brush and thoroughly floss your teeth, see if that helps.
It is normal to have odd aches and pains in the mouth,Dentists do not take xrays at every check up as a rule, usually every year to 2 years, especially not in a mouth as good as yours!
Try not to worry as it doesn't sound serious, good luck.

The short answer to your question is yes, you could have a cavity in this short amount of time. You could also have an abscess, or tooth infection. In any case, you need to hightail it back to the dentist to get it checked out so it can be treated appropriately.

Hello,
Sometimes nerves meant to be healthy for a lifetime simply act up. This can be made better by doing a filling, if a cavity is present or a root canal to fix an infected nerve.
In either case an x-ray must be done and the nerve tested for health status.

Go back to the dentist as they can pick up potential problems early.
Also, whilst you are waiting for an appointment, get a bottle of clove oil as its really effective if the pain gets worse and is tooth related.

He done it. Money grabbers.

Could be an abscess though or maybe a Wisdom tooth... then again, no, he would have seen that...

Get back there, ask him what his game is!
