Like... how did f*ck and sh*t become curse? How does a word become a "bad word"?

Sigh.
I have answered this question at least a dozen times here. Doesn't anyone bother to click on the "related questions" when they come up?!?!?!

A few hundred years ago, we had both Anglo-Saxon and French/Latin words for the same thing. It was decided that the older A-S words were more coarse or "bad," and the newer F/L words were more acceptable, even though they meant the exact same thing.
Thus we have f*ck and fornicate, sh*t and excrement, d*ck and penis, c*nt and vagina, and on and on and on.

I guess if it receives a negative denotation.
