Make sure yours is a spiritually sound reason to invite them. Make sure your church is not snobbish, clickish, and overly socialized, but more into real worship, prayer and thanksgiving. If you perceive your church to be a highly spiritual church where you are moved by the spirit, and feel God's presence, then ask Him while you're there... pray about it wholeheartedly. What can you do? How? When? Etc. Be willing to identify problems if there are any.

Offering community events, like open mic nights, swing dance classes/dances, concerts, discussions, etc, will bring people to your church. Once they are there, they can meet some of your people. Be careful not to trick them into coming to an information session or sermon. You can have literature on a table for them to read, if they want to. Just make them feel welcome without pressuring them to come to church on Sunday. Give them the opportunity to get to know you. Build relationships. Friendship is the best reward.

Have the foundation of the church be built on the un-compromised word of God, the bible. Teach it day in and day out. Praise the Lord in worship and song...and people will flock to that church.
How do I know that? I attend a church that began doing just that, and has expanded all over the world. That is all they do; strive to know Christ, and make Him known.

I think you need to ask is, why are so many leaving the church, I believe it is because people are truly finding out the truth about religion and it's violent past, I have been a catholic for many many years now, and I believe religion has become a vary violent and evil institution today so I simply stay away.

Unfortunately most people want something for nothing. They also want to do as little as possible to get there free something. So unless you give them something for free and never expect anything in return there probably not going to show. If they do show, when the free runs out so will they.If any do stay they will say it's all about money and all your trying to do is get rich quick when you ask for a donation to pay for the food you purchased with your own money out of the goodness of your heart..

Gain a reputation for stimulating sermons.
Seriously.
When I was in basic training, I went to church to dodge waxing the floors in the barracks. There was a baptist chaplain that was very entertaining. I didn't agree with his ideas or his religion, but I didn't sleep through his sermons either :p
