I am going to steam some watercress to serve with shrimp. Which would be best, almonds, walnuts, pinenuts, pecans? I am going to toast them and serve with the watercress

Toasted pecans, the sweetness of the nut would compliment the shrimp and make a nice contrast to the bitter greens. A little olive oil, lemon zest, salt, pepper, and garlic (light), and I'm in heaven!

Pinenuts are usually better in flavor. Have you thought of using Pesto sauce as a based seasoning?

Pinenuts. The others might over complicate the flavors. You could also try cashews, unsalted.

I would go with pecans or cashews - but use whatever you like.

Definitely slivered almonds.
Can't go wrong with them.
