The only open, locker room type showers I saw in the Navy where in bootcamp. My ship had dividers in the shower stalls.

The only toilet stalls without doors where also in bootcamp; all the others had doors with a copy of the UCMJ on it.

The big difference of showers in the Navy is while at sea. Fresh water is in short supply, so you have to take a "Navy shower": turn the water on to get wet, shut the water off and soap up and shampoo your hair, turn the water on to rinse off.
No "Hollywood" showers onboard ship while underway.

It was like that in the past. Before i got out, there was a huge effort to make showering more private and comfortable for the Sailor. Even on a ship as small as a sub or frigate you will use a private stall with a curtain or door. On shore duty every person down to the lowest rank will soon have private, in-room showers, if they don't already. The only place you might see the big room, prison-style shower is in boot camp these days.

some are open with a few shower heads, along the wall, and some are more private, just a small room,.....toilets?,.....i have seen some stalls with out doors, some with doors, and some with out walls or doors,.....it all depends on where you are stationed, or what ship you are on,.....then aboard ship there is the navy shower, where you just rinse down for about 30 seconds, and then soap up and then rinse off, for about 30 seconds, that occurs while aboard shipand and out to sea, water is rationed,.....at times there has been a master at arms there with a stop watch, making sure you don't use to much water, each man was allotted a fixed number of gallons per day of water, that included food, shower, laundry,.....it is not bad once you get use to it,.....

while on board ship, there are individual showers in the heads, with shower curtains, but depending on what type of ship you are on, the water may be cold due to the engine rooms guys shutting off the hot water to conserve energy

Depends on where and when. On a ship at sea a "navy shower" is get in, turn on water, get wet, turn off water, scrub, turn on water, rinse, get out. It takes about five minutes if you're taking your time. The ships I was on all had hand-held shower heads. Believe me when I tell you it was not luxurious.

Are you talking about showers on a ship? They are just like showers in a gym.

Why? are you not confident? Do you have "short"comings?!
just don't bend over in the communal showers to pick up your bar of soap!

umm well the truth is it is a giant room full of showerheads in few locations unless you are in boot camp you will have dividers.

Don't freak out about it...what are you worrying about?

But I do have to ask you one question....

Do you know why so many sailors continue to keep re-enlisting in the navy??

They just can't stand to leave their buddies 'behind.'

Hahahahahah! Sorry, a little humor might help?
