Lately I've been feeling really worthless, sad and irratable. I can't sleep, I can't concentrate and I just haven't been my normal self. I've been self harming and wishing I was dead. Would you consider this to be depression?

It sounds like you got to much going on in your life or not enough.
It sounds like a personality conflict. A low self-esteem. Something isn't going right in your life and now it is just to much for you to handle. Get out and go do something that makes you feel better about yourself. As long as it doesn't require you to hurt yourself or anyone else. Take time to do something that you really enjoy. Do you have a bath tub? Take a long soaking bubble bath or oil bath. Or perhaps you haven't let go of something bad that has happened to you and something happened that re-triggered those emotions and now you are on a roller coast emotional ride. Golly, I hate those emotional rides. What do you enjoy doing? Do you do music (play instruments). Write? Jog? Paint? Try something different that you never tried before. For me it would be Yoga I never done that before. Or I never rode a horse before. Try something new if the old things that you do don't bring you a good feeling. What ever you do! Don't forget to be there for yourself! People do love you!

Actually I'm not so sure.
Maybe you've been thinking too much about it that it wants to stay in your brain. I would wait a little while but if you still feel the same way then yes get some help or maybe you can talk to someone you trust first.
Everyone has problems so it might just be that.
Good luck
and be happy.
God bless.

Sad to say, but yes, this is depression.

Geh, please don't take any offence in the following words:

You are not worthless, God loves you very much "For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son...". Yes, you are a sinner, as am I, but God still loves you. And if you surrender yourself to His will, God can use you.

You really ought not harm yourself, it's stupid. I've been there....not really hurting myself, but I've felt that way, and sometimes it comes back. But I have God, who loves me, and I have my best friend, who really helps me...

So you have two options: Turn to God, turn to your best friend. I suggest both, especially God. ;)

God bless,

~M~

If you can not get professional help, at
least go to the store and buy a bottle
of fish oil (omega-3 fatty acid) Take one
every morning.

Try to get some sun.
