God changed from the "I'll strike you down or else" (Old testament) to the "all loving, compassionate" God of the New testament, but why is this if he's perfect. If something or someone is perfect than there's no need for change, hence they are perfect and void of imperfection. Makes you think, huh?

God has not changed. The coming of the Savior was predicted in Genesis, the first book of the Bible and thruout the Old Testament. It is thru the perfect man, Jesus Christ, who died for the sins of mankind that we are now reconciled to God. God is a god of love, but also a god of justice. It is thru Jesus that the justice is fulfilled. If you read the O.T. deeper you will see that God gave people many many opportunities to change or repent before He destroyed them. God destroyed Jesus because Jesus offered to die in our place. God is the same in both the Old and New Testament. It was prophesied or predicted that one day a Savior would be born to reconcile mankind with God and it was so.

Sending you a smile to help pick up your day.

Well New Testament mainly is Jesus story and God and Jesus are one, so for Jesus saving us all it change the way things used to be, and this is God's world and he is perfect but you should never ever question him to us or himself in a manner that makes him go against his perfect will, just don't worry about it ok!

God has created the Universe, God is running the Universe. God will destroy the Universe. God is the Origin of Universe. God is the Destination of Universe. Spirit can neither be created nor be destroyed. It moves from one body to another. Your body dies, not spirit. Your spirit gets new body after death, based upon your actions in this life. Your target is to make your spirit pure, so that it can merge in Super Spirit (God). Remember wherever there is Happiness in Life, there will be Sorrow. To get Happiness, you must master Sorrow.

God is many things, The Merciful, and The Powerful.

The Islamic concept of Taqwa which means fear of God/righteousness also includes the love of God through which that righteousness is attained. God is the Merciful, but He is also the Powerful, and much more.

It wasn't God that changed, it was the people who worship Him. Civilization has matured somewhat since then, and so has the view of God. God is still unchanging in eternity.

Most early Christians thought that they were two different deities (the Jewish God and the Christian God).

It seems they could recognize contradictions better than their modern-day counterparts.

John from NC: Paul DOES explain it pretty well, possibly because he invented the personality of the new god.

God did not change. That was the plan. It works for one who lives in eternity instead of being bound by time. He can save those that believed before the cross and thos that believed after. It has always been about faith and not law. In genesis it says that "Abraham believed God and it was credited to him, righteousness."

God is our Father. The people of God in teh Old Testament are in spiritual infancy, God rewards (giving the Israelites manna in the desert) and punishes them out of love, just as earthly parents reward and punish their young kids to teach them very valuable lession. In the N.T., the people of God are more mature and thus God can relate to us in a more mature way in CHrist. God bless!

Oh I keep saying that! No one ever listens to me! It was all "in Gods plan".
It's the biggest hypocrisy ever - "I'm perfect but hey I'll change!"
It only devalues his credibility yet people still flock like sheep in a herd.
