My 70th bithday has come and gone, but I still don't feel old. I can still do a 15 mile fell walk, play badminton and table tennis. It is very much a matter of attitude, though to be fair, not every one is blessed with good health. What I may lack in the energy of youth I make up for in life experience. A good motto is: If you don't use it you loose it. The days when one was supposed to act their age has long gone.

Hi. I'm 42 and just know starting to feel it. It's pretty weird. When I was in my 30's people say when you turn 40 your vision starts to go. That is so true It's like my body knew when I was 40 my vivion was much better at 39 than 40. Now at 42 I'm starting to feel 42. I am very much into my body and workout all the time it's just hard to go and do it. No creaking of the bones yet. Just stay healthy, keep your mind set and you'll know when it's time to slow up!

when the body starts failing. It varies. could be your back suddenly goes, your knees start aching...you find that you try running but the kid on the scooter beats you....I think a lot depends on the environment you live in....a young attitude will always make you feel act and seem younger.
Give in and become 'OLD' and you will rapidly decline. Me and most I know started at 40 to suddenly wake up 'creaking' cracking and groaning from pain.
You have to do it slowly mentally checking out what bits are still able to move unaided....those that aren't like legs or backs sometimes need a helping shove from the significant other in your bed.
When you have done the wake up checklist and realised your bladder may well burst before you get to the toilet you move and get the morning rap beats going...'groan, click, crack, argh, crunch, clack....creak...groan click'

I always used to think that people "in their 40's" were old, then I reached 40 and suddenly 40 wasn't old anymore. So I moved my "old" to proplr in their late 40's but that came and went and I still felt young so I thought 50 definately!! But guess what? I was 50 a few months ago and no way am I old!! I certainly have no "old" goals now and I won't be reaching for tweed skirts and pearls EVER!!!

If you keep the weight off and stay fit, you won't feel your age for some time to come. My father is well into his 70's and cycles about 40 miles a day - he has always been a keen dancer and cyclist and it has kept him fit and mobile - interestingly, he has really bad arthritis but just keeps moving!
I am 41 and and fit and healthy, I used to do ballet and have stayed supple. Just keep thinking young, acting young and enjoying life - that keeps you young.

The body may physically age but the mind doesnt. I am 48 but am mentally still 21. My mother is 87 but forgets and and still thinks like a 30 yr old. Then she wonders why she cant go rock climbing etc...

At 53 I don't feel old, and an 81 year old who uses the same gym as me says he doesn't feel old, so maybe "old" is just a state of mind. I expect being in good health helps, and eating sensibly and getting regular exercise.

Most people say they start feeling old in their late 30s to early 40s. However if you're 39 and you feel 20, you'll probably feel it in your late 50s before you notice it.
