My cousin and I grew up together and have been very close throughout most of our lives.
However, I have a huge issue with her that's making me think I don't need her in my life.
I'm gay. She doesn't have an issue with that. But, she votes for and supports political candidates that want to take away my rights (such as marriage, etc.)
I'm very offended over this and everytime I look into her eyes I see a hypocrite that doesn't really support me and my lifestyle.
Should I kick her to the curb?

No, I do not think you should kick her to the curb. You stated that you two have been close for a long time and she has no issue with you being gay. It is her personal right to vote the way you choose to vote. If that is the only thing she has done to you, feel fortunate. She may not agree with things you do and your lifestyle but it seems that she keeps that to herself. Don't let her voting practices ruin your relationship. Keep the politics out and enjoy family.

People can have different political views and still be friends or even be married. You are judging her, but you do want to be judged. That seems odd.
No, she's family, you grew up together and she accepts your sexual orientation. That's more than most would get out of ANY famiy member, much less a cousin. How would you feel if she did the same thing to you because you are a liberal?

That's a tough situation for you. I find myself wondering if she indeed does have an issue, or if she is supporting these candidates for other reasons. Have you asked her? If not I suggest that you do. I don't think it would be fair of you to ditch your cousin without at least trying to have an honest discussion with her, and finding out why she is supporting these candidates, and letting her know how you feel. I wish you the best, and hope things work out between you and your cousin

Sure...yeah..Kick her to the curb. Violence against people you disagree with will definitely make your point.

That's sarcasms, btw.

You are close. And this is a free country. She doesn't have to agree with you to like you and be civil with you. Apparently she is fine with agreeing to disagree. Why can't you. She's not a hypocrite - she doesn't agree with your lifestyle. She IS supporting you by being your friend.

Please talk to her, she may not even be conscious of her hypocritical views! It's sad to say but she may accept you because she loves you and may not even know that she's acting in this manner. The best thing to do is to talk to her! I would suggest you not become a hypocrit by cutting her off. What I mean by that is, although you are entitled to your lifestyle she is entitled to hers; including her views and opinions. I really think you guys can learn to co exist despite this difference of opinions. You're Family!!!

Tell your cousin how you feel about the situation. Also remember that just because she supports these people does not mean that she doesn't love & support you any less.

Well, you need to confront and talk to her. But keep in mind that this IS a free country, and she has a right to choose. If she's living a life that doesn't suit your interests, completely ignoring her would not be out of the question.
