Americans are made up of people from every culture, we are pleased that we have sufficient to feed and clothe our families, houses to live in and jobs to go to. When tragedy happen, or disasters, we open our hearts and pocket books to assist fellow man anywhere in the world.
It is something that most all of us are brought up to believe in, you help your fellow man in need. Proud and generous.
I may not have much, but if you need it, I will be there for you!...thank you

Because we don't know any better. In terms of government assistance, we may not be #1. But in terms of private donations and charities, we dwarf every single country in the world by many miles.

In fact, we Americans are so stupid, that we're going to continue to do this for years to come, because we believe that people in need should be helped, regardless of whether or not they hate our guts (which is pretty much everyone). We're aid giving fools, and we're not going to stop, because we think it's the right thing to do. Then when we've given money to these people, they can rebuild their lives, and start off where they ended, planning the demise of the U.S. because we're so horrible. And that's when you know all is back to normal. :)

I feel that it is the right and Christian thing to do, but must admit that at times, I question why we help so many overseas, when we have problems here at home.
And charity does begin at home. We have many (down-and-out) after natural disasters, that is why we volunteer and help so many. We work hard for our money, everyone is not born rich, most of us are hard working middle class.

More people of faith with love in it live in America than any other country, I seen a poll just recently that showed people who attended church on a regular basis were more likely to volunteer than any other group. More people go to church in the US than any other country.

It's because of "Bush" wanting to get even with saddam insane for threateng his father, it's for "OIL", and Global warming, it's that yankee imperialistic attitude that completes a fully working airport runway system in 20 hours while raining, and puts round the clock flights of C-130 "Herky Bird's" in all weather flying in medicine, food, and water at no charge, then we get bad mouthed, and blamed again

Well,
I wish it would end. I am tired of giving to selfish and ungrateful people who take everything we give but then have the audacity to stab us in the back with hate and ridicule! Americans here are suffering from poverty and lack of health care, yet we don't help them. Time to let the villages of (insert country here) fend for themselves after their next earthquake. We have no more antibiotics and cans of beans left to give to people that claim to hate us.

Perhaps because Americans belong to the one of the largest and wealthiest western nations in the world. Don't Americans always think they are bigger and better at doing everything anyway? Just another thing to be bigger and better at, I guess.

Where do you get your info from?

what is your source that says americans give more than other countries?
this is also incomplete because we need to consider the amount of social services provided by the government, as well as whether personal charity is either based through religious or secular organizations.

Maybe because although there are a lot of ******* in the USA, there are also a lot of really down-to-earth friendly Americans. Is this a bad thing!?!

I don't believe they do. What is your source? I understand that Sweden is probably the country that donates more per capita than any country and there are a few other countries that donate more than the US.

Sounds like more "Oh us poor mis-understood Yanks." propaganda to me.
