If you want to, yes. Just be sure you don't put it all on in one coat (if you want it thick) because it will drip down the walls and onto the floor. The edges and corners are hard, so be sure to get it all, but just be careful not to let it drip. I would suggest painting the ceiling a lighter shade of the color you're using so the color doesn't make the room seem overwhelming.

Of course. But, a cool effect is to paint the walls whatever color(s) and then paint the ceiling an off-white. That brightens up the room and gives the illusion that the ceiling is higher than it actually is.

The hard part is cutting in the color at the ceiling corner. Paint the ceiling first, including any multiple coats, and let it dry well before starting the walls (if you make an error, you want to be able to wipe off the color from the white ceiling). Use a small brush (1 inch or so) and a steady hand to apply the color about 6 inches to a foot at a time to do the edge. Come back with a bigger brush (2 to 3 inches) to make a bigger border. Then do the rest of the walls with a roller.

I highly discourage using painter's tape to make the transition from the wall to the ceiling. I have found that the paint tends to pull the paint off when you remove it, causing more work to reapply the paint and a lumpy surface where the paint was pulled off.

If it needs to be painted, then yes, you do. Or if you want to change the color, yes you do. And you paint it before you paint the walls, otherwise, you risk getting little flecks of the ceiling color on the wall.

If you are painting the ceiling the same color as the walls, it's important to know that the ceiling will absorb 20% less light than the walls. Which means your paint on the ceiling will look darker than on the walls. So, to avoid this, choose your wall color and then choose the ceiling color the same, only 2 or 3 shades lighter, which you'll find on the sample color chip.

Also, use ceiling matte paint on the ceiling. Don't use a gloss or even a semi-gloss. Your best bet for ceilings is the flatest mattest paint you can find. Primer also works, if you want to save money.

Should You Paint The Ceiling

I guess it depends on whether or not the ceiling needs it and then consider the choice of paint colour for the wall - is that also a factor? I painted a bedroom 3 walls blue and 1 cream. The ceiling had been fine but with the cream - its was a little disconnected. So I ran the cream on the ceiling as well. I love our room (well I love blue so that helps!!!). If it's not necessary, save your paint, but I think you'll be the best judge once the paint goes on the walls!!!!!
Enjoy your painting!

Paint the ceiling only if you want to, and you should if it is dull and dirty. Painting the ceiling white is a good idea, it makes the room look larger and professional looking, no matter what color the walls are.

if it needs painting, then yes. will help the room look fresh and new. most times, new paint on the walls will make the ceiling look dull and dirty, so a fresh coat of ceiling white is a great idea.

Not usally if the cieling has a bumpy surface, but if it is flat enough you can if you want to.
If the room is your bedroom,
Try using a different color or paint stars or a cool design that might help you fall asleep.

If it's a baby's bedroom paint a little baby picture on the cieling!! I've seen it done before.

Why put yourself through the extra hassel unless it just needs it. They make special paint called ceiling white but any paint will work.

i always do, start at the top of a room and work down, that way you don't splash the walls when you're painting the ceiling.
