Traditional musical instruments (from Isaan) look and sound cool, and they are not at all expensive.

Tough question. I was looking for something for my nephew who was 13 at the time. With him being between a boy and teen it is not easy. You have to find something he likes. I knew he like military things and dragons or elephants. I found a black t-shirt that had a dragon that wasn't too brightly put on the shirt. He loved it. Maybe fighting elephants or a Muay Thai t-shirt. So, many of the items are made in China. Finding something Thai can be tough sometimes to give to a male. T-shirts are ordinary but, the design on the T-shirt can set it apart. Most of the items are maybe too suggestive like a lighter shaped like a car or has an elephant or tiger on it. Or a shot glass or a knife with a thai design. So, you are left with T-shirts. Unless you want to take that chance with your sister or brother.

good luck

Get him an Ipod or nano. When we were there in June, did not see anyone with the Apple boxes... Would sure set him apart from all others, and could really brag big time.

You can get him pirated software, pirated designer clothes, or you could get him some Thai artwork.
