Mr. Chavez has acquired a rather bad reputation in the United States. Of course President Bush would intervene with economic sanctions, and possibly military force, but I doubt that he would do that because of his current lack of popularity-he really can't do anything without it being considered the worst thing ever. A Democratic President would not really do anything either, as they have a tendency to be not as militarily inclined- and when they do make military commitments they are never pursuing full victory. (Korea, Vietnam, and Somalia are examples of this) So basically the United States would be unable to effect any forceful response due to our leader's political disadvantage and our unwillingness to exploit domestic petroleum reserves therefore reducing us to dependency on foreign oil. In our absence the UN would attempt to intervene. Unfortunately they have not had a good history of such interventions either. (Korea, Somalia). None of these countries are members of NATO-I think. If any are, then NATO will come into play and Venezuela will loose. If NATO is not a factor then its pretty much everyone out for himself in South America. Chavez will receive help from Cuba- but that's about it. Considering he was the aggressor, the other South American countries will probably work together to defeat him.

Who would they invade ??

Guyana ?
Columbia ?
Trinidad & Tobago?

Their only other neighbor is Brazil.

And that would be the last invasion, Venezuela ever made.

Brazil is much larger than venezuela and it's Army is alot stronger and larger.

Brazil is one of the few non 1st world countries, that actually has it's own arms industry.

Brazil exports weapons to the US.
