I have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler with 106,000 miles. Everything on the Jeep works flawlessly except for the shifting. I have the original clutch on it still, and when I try to shift, it seems like the gears are sticking. Its hard to get the stick into each gear. Not only that, I have to push far down with the clutch to change gears. On my 2000 Wrangler, I barely have to engage the clucth. Could my clutch be going out?

your jeep has a hydraulic clutch system that is sealed. you can add fluid, but if you had a leak, the pedal would go to the floor with almost no resistance. there are no adjustments on a hydraulic clutch. your clutch disc is worn out causing all of your symptoms. go to a parts store and get a clutch kit-it comes with the disc, pressure plate, throwout and pilot bearings. if removing the trans is something you think you can't handle, go to any dealer or trans shop.

My 99 with 101,000 miles on it is the same. It was great when it was new but now it is very sticky. I am sure it's the clutch going out. I keep waiting for it to go so I can fix it!

With 2 Jeeps that both get wheeled we live under the rule.. don't fix it until it's broke!!

LOL

Could be a combination of the clutch going out, and the clutch master/slave cylinder failing.

I actual have owned the two a 5 speed instruction manual cherokee and at present very own a 1994 jeep grand cherokee constrained 4x4 computerized with the 5.2L V-8 and it has all wheel rigidity. i desire the automobile via lighter weight and extra effective floor clearance. they the two have their execs and cons . in case you have in no way pushed a instruction manual transmission then you definately might desire to get the computerized. i might say on your case my answer may well be no for now until eventually you get a pair of years of adventure driving under your belt. i did this with all my grown infants. now i'm getting to attend until eventually finally my 3 twelve months outdated gets sufficiently outdated to rigidity then coach him the thank you to artwork a stick shift after he learns on an computerized 1st.

Check the fluid level in the master cylinder. It could be low. If not then your clutch maybe on the way out.
