So my kids have attened the same school for 5 years now, and yesterday they bring home a letter saying please dont send your kids to school with peanut butter sandwiches or ANY nut products! Apparently there are some allergic kids at the school. I know this can be serious and Im trying not to be insensitve, BUT....what happens when these kids go off to middle/high school? There are no restrictions at those schools? What about in the real world? My sons love peanut butter and nut products. For some families this is a affordable sandwich that is always around! Im trying to find out if this is common or just somthing ridiculous! Thanks!

this is becomming more common on a regular basis. a lot of people who are allergic to peanuts can DIE from a reaction. my son almost died when a drip of rocky road ice cream landed on his skin. most schools will just have a "peanut free zone" in the cafateria, but more and more, the schools do not want to bear the risk of a serious reaction that can be avoioded - especially since most schools do not have a full time nurse on the premesis every day.

My son is in the 6th grade and has had a classmate with a severe peanut allergy since preschool. Yes it is a pain because you dont realize how many snacks have nuts or have been manufactured in plants where nuts are handled and it says that on the pkgs too. And the easiest sandwich to pack is peanut butter. But it could kill this child if he even has it on his hands after lunch and takes it out to the playground and touches something that this boy touches after him and its very serious and the only way to prevent is not to allow it in the school.

Oh, it's plenty common! That happened to me all growing up then we hit grade nine, transferred over to the high school and not a peep was made about it! Their theory is 'the kids can look out for themselves', which is true and we haven't had a problem with yet! Now, we can bring all the nut stuff we like, but we're considerate enough to not eat it too near the kids who are allergic.

Hope I helped!

I knew a guy who could be hospitalized from smelling a peanut product. It is a nasty nasty allergy and why should a kid have to deal with that when they may not fully understand it? Would you be saying this if your kid had a peanut allergy and could DIE if he smelled someone's peanut butter sandwich?

i individually think of that there should not be expenses like that for the duration of public colleges yet I additionally sense that if colleges prefer greater funds I anticipate to pay slightly greater in taxes. One concern in college structures is the applying that the administrations purchase take way too lots funds out of the colleges budgets. There are college structures which charge one million funds for the applying courses that run each and every thing from absences to grade reporting, to type schedules. the situation is that the businesses shop charging the colleges further and extra funds to restoration the "bugs" interior the applying structures via fact they're crap first of all. i think of they could desire to hearth directors who purchase into stupid funds dropping funds suggestions. isn't it unhappy that the folk who're responsible for coaching our young little ones are countless the backside paid human beings interior the country. And we see our tax funds difficult at paintings going to convicts in prisons so as that they could get a unfastened college coaching and watch HBO. Yeah, I have been given off beam, SORRY. i could pay the 20 for my youngster.

i go to a "no nut" school and i don't mind. who cares if peanut butter sandwiches are affordable, it isn't worth endangering the childs life.

Ridiculous! I have never heard of such a stupid thing in my life!!How can you make peanuts illegal because of a few kids. Can't their parents educate them about self restraint. Would they ban sugar because a couple of kids were diabetic??
