Okay, I work first shift, I get off at 5:00pm. My husband works second shift, and he does not get off until midnight, after he goes in at 3:30pm.I have a seven year old boy and a three year old boy. I pick them up every day from my Mother's house, but once I get home, I feel soooo sleepy. I have gone to sleep for an hour or more before with them but I feel bad because my oldest is going to school and if I get him to go to sleep earlier then he will not be sleepy around 11:00pm, which is his normal bedtime. Is this alright? I mean, I know that if I put him in bed again at 11:00 he will probably sleep, but that means that I cannot get him to sleep anymore than like an hour in the evening right? Please advice, I just get home so tired sometimes and I have to give them a bath, cook, etc. and sleeping normally gives me a "fresh and wake up feeling"

I understand you are tired. But this is a really bad habit to allow your child to get into. A seven year old does not need a nap and then stay up until 11. That's just not healthy for the child. Can your momo maybe keep the children another hour while you go home and take a quick nap? I heard that a 20 minute nap is better than a hour or two nap because you sleep too deeply. A 20 minute nap refreshes you.

I know you have a lot to do each day, but you need to realize that this is unhealthy for your children. 11 is way too late to go to bed for such a young child. I hope things improve for you.

You need to start going to bed earlier so that you're energized for the day. You must work 9-5, that is not early, most people go in at 7 or 8. I go into work at 4:30am, now talk about tired after picking the kid up from school! You have nothing to complain about. You're just being lazy. From now on you & all your kids need to be in bed by 9. You'll all get a good nights rest & will last through the next day.

Young kids really need to be going to bed much earlier than 11:00pm. My daughter (she is 5) starts getting ready between 7 and 7:30. That way we have time for bath, toothbrushing, jammies, and either two stories or two chapter out of whatever chapter book I am reading her. And she is wound down enough at that point that she can fall asleep in her bed before 9:00.

Good luck!

I know if my 5-year-old has a nap in the afternoon, good luck getting him to sleep in a timely manner. I would make him stay awake until 8.

(My son sleeps from around 8 pm to 6:30 am...when he comes into our room and lies down with us for about a half hour.)

I'm really confused. Your seven year old doesn't need a nap in the evenings and should go to bed closer to 9:00 p.m. at the absolute latest. If you need to go to bed earlier because you need sleep, put your kids to bed earlier. I hope this helped!

I think that you should have the same bedtime for you and your children. I have a 4 yr old and me and him are in bed by 9:30pm and asleep by 10pm. That way, he has enough sleep and wakes up fresh and in a good mood. I'd recommend for you to put the boys to bed at 9-9:30pm and you should maybe be in by 10pm?? Good Luck!
