What would be the outcome?

I know the Chinese army is easily larger than ours, but they have this huge thing called the Pacific Ocean and the U.S. Navy in the way.

Baring nuclear weapons, with the objective of wiining the war is total domination of the opposite country, who would win?

The same with Pakistan and India

-Israel and her neighbors (basically the second 6 Day War).

And what would be the result of a Russian Invasion of Eastern Europe.

-What would be the result of South American all-out war between Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, and Peru vs. Brazil, both Guyana's, Suriname, and Columbia?

What would the U.S.A.'s role in these conflicts?

Just some thoughts I was wondering and a little mindcandy for military minds.

Remember no conflicts use nukes.

Okay, China vs The US:
China has a navy, but it's mostly shortrange troop transports along with submarines. China also lacks a significant Air Force. As such, in ANY engagement the United States would win (assuming no nuclear). While ground troops are needed, air domination is the way of the future when it comes to war

Pakistan and India:
There's no way this wouldn't go nuclear. HOWEVER, pretending, i'd be inclined to say india would win because, again, of their air force.

Russia invades Eastern Europe:
I would guess they would make it as far as Germany before UN and US troops stationed there were able to stop them. The Russian Air Force is beefy enough to stand up to the US Air Force for about 2 or 3 weeks.

South America Goes CRAZY:
Here, whatever countries America chooses to support will win. we import MOST of our nations oil from south america, so it's without question that the US would play a pivitol role in this conflict.

Strategically the Chinese and the US will not fight each other it would cost too much money. Economically Chinese will eventually take over Taiwan. Because the Taiwanese are gonn want to sell to that big market. Tactically if there were a fight the Chinese would lose before they could put their true power to work. Their true power is numbers. The USA will own the Sea and Air unless they plan to take on Russia or India. At which poitn their true power (numbers) would be hard to stop. Not impossible just hard. Historically the Chinese would rather be governed by outsiders then to be obliterated. Theya er survivors therefore Nuclear weapons will not be used.

Conventional warfare winners will most likely be decided upon by who has air superiority within the first few weeks of the war. Look at who has a better airforce and you can assume they will have control over the skies, which in turn will allow for air to ground strikes taking out primary targets. Inteligence and comaand will be critical roles in who controls the skies it wont' necasarily be who has a bigger air force, but who can lead and out wit the opponent in strategy and tactics. Obviously the use of stealth will provide a leading edge as well as precision weapons and a standard of reliability.

Too many questions.

So I will answer the first one. If China had confidence that they had the technology to defend themselves against the US in conventional warfare, they would have already invaded Taiwan.

I agree with their decision. They have no chance at the moment. Yet they are trying hard to get the right combination of technology to be a match with the US Navy.

It's the same deal with all the others. The technology gap is too large for conventional warfare against the US at this time, so they won't do anything to provoke it.

Even if they did, they would have to worry about the ultimate solution in the end - nukes and lots of them. (I know you said no nukes, but that is part of the deal)

I am a former member of the U.S. Military and I will explain why China is no match for us. The U.S. Military has key ingredients that seperate it from any other in the world and those ingredients make it the most effective in the world. The first ingredient is that it's totally voluntary. Which means that the men and women in our military want to and are devoted to fight for us unlike a military which is forced to serve such as China's. The second key ingredient finances. Our financial superiority to China's gives us production and technological advantages. China does produce many goods that we import and we have a "trade defecit" with them but what most people don't realize is that because we trade with China; they reinvest there money in our publicly traded companies and our treasury bills because we trade with them. Thus China is actually financing us. The third advantage is that because of the destructive capability of our weaponry and it's efficiency of use we do not need to have a largely staffed military just one that is highly educated. That brings me to the fourth ingredient our military is the most highly educated in the world. In fact the U.S. Military is more educated per capita than the general population of the United States. The fifth ingredient is that our military is based throughout the world and gives us deployment advantages. The Chinese can not deploy their military as quickly and so they are at a huge disadvantage if they were to have to engage us.

I know what people are thinking when they read this. Why aren't we having this effect in Iraq. Well folks you have to remember in the case of Iraq we are not trying to destroy a foe we are trying to build an ally. The Iraqis are not our enemy. The terrorists are our enemy and it just so happens that Iraq is one of the battle fronts for having to face that enemy.
