I have a 12 year old cousin who wants a yorkie but doesn't know whether they are excellent to have as pets. He is very responsible, so he wwants the best websites that are about yorkie breeding.

They are wonderful little dogs. They are a problem to housebreak, most toy breeds are. Check akc.org for breed info on Yorkies.

Yes it is a good breed but make sure you get bigger parents if it is for a child. I mean the puppys parents should be about 7-10 lbs and make sure you pick the biggest FEMALE out of the litter. You are going to pay more for a female but if you get it fixed in my opinion they are so much better than the males. The males even being fixed are very difficult to potty train. And I am assuming this is for a little girl she would much more enjoy having a girl puppy to dress up in pink clothes and such. Make sure the pups have heath checks, dew claws removed. The parents have good hair and coloring and even though your not going to breed you still should make sure it has some kind of papers so you know your not paying that high of a price for something thats not a true yorkie. A 12 year-old kid.. Umm any breed is good for an age over.. lets say.. 6 or 7.. 12 year olds can handle it.. XD I am almost 13 and i have 3 dogs, one is very ferocious lol! And 2 ferrets and a hamster and.. Unless the kid is like.. disabled.. even if the kid is.. A yorkie is wonderful to have, great tempered and a cute little dog.

A Yorkie would be an excellent pet for a 12 year old...
As puppies they are very active and hyper. They love attention... and easily trained.... They are great little lap dogs...
Do remember that they need to be groomed daily with combing because of the hair and trimmed monthly....

Yorkies are so cute! But they are high maintenance..I used to babysit for a couple that had a Yorkie named Maggie and she was always scared of their 5 yr. old daughter! Maggie would pee when she got excited and they always had to take her to the groomers. They are very cute but if you want a playful dog thats good with kids I would recommend a lab! They the most loyal and good-natured dogs!

I would usually recommend maybe a sturdier dog becuase young kids may accidently hurt him , however at 12 years old he , is hopefully more careful. yorkies are small dogs with huge personalities, they like to play and all the ones i ahve ever met are very friendly. keep in mind yorkies along with other small dogs are harder to house break and yorkies do need regular grooming
check out petfinder.com and see available yorkies and yorkie mixes for adoption, also other small dogs like shih tzus and silky terriers are good pets too.

My roomates have a yorkie, and it is the most god forsaken annoying dog I have EVER met. Very very playful I might add, but good god this dog does not learn lessons easily. It's been nearly two years, and they still haven't managed to potty train the damned thing. I kid you not, it's very tempting to throw the yappy thing off my 3rd story balcony. Alas, I am an animal lover and I can't do anything but pet his cute little bum.

Yorkies are good dogs but they are also very dedicated normally to one person. Unfortunately they pick the person they are going to like, you can't make them like another. They may tollerate them but they will always shy away from them.
If he is looking for a good pal dog I recomment a Jack Russell Terrier. They are smaller dogs with lots of energy but they seem to go for everyone.

I think that Yorke's are good but the best kind of dog to have would be a Toy Pomeranian 'cause they are very gentle with kids and they don't bite at all!
